C in Chemistry. ADN program at Community College

Hi everyone. I'm 21 years old, and last semester I decided to switch up my major (due to life and family situations) and try to get accepted into the nursing program at my local CC, American River College in Sacramento. I'm in my third year, and the only nursing pre-reqs that I have taken is Psychology (A), English (B), Sociology (waiting for the grade to be posted, but I believe it will be a B), Speech (B), and Chemistry ©. Now chemistry isn't a requirement for the program, but it is a pre-req for A&PI. I'm taking nutrition for Summer 2015, which starts in about 2-3 weeks, as well as a course for LVNs, and nursing majors. It's called BIO 100, which is basically a beginners course of A&P. I decided to take it because it will help me go into A&PI with at least some knowledge. Then, for Fall 2015, I'm taking BIO 430 (A&PI). I decided to take A&PI and II, and Micro across three semesters so I can focus on my grades and try for all A's. The nursing program at ARC is based on a point system, where 70-75 points (1/3 of all applicants) is the cutoff for being pooled in the random selection. Now, my main question is the Chemitsry grade I recieved ©. ARC does NOT look at the Chem grade. However, from my understanding, Universities do. What should I do? Should I just continue my schooling and get all A's in the A&P/Micro courses and apply for the program, then if the C in Chem isn't enough for a university application, retake it?

I am not sure what Universities you are looking at, but I know Sac state takes your GPA from all of the prerequisites and the corequisites. Just keep going and try to get A's in the rest of your classes. You could always get your ADN where you are now and then bridge over into a RN-BSN program. I know my school does not allow anyone to retake a class with a C grade, only D's and F's. Best of luck to you!

My goal is to get my ADN from ARC, then transfer to SAC State, or any other university that I can get accepted into. But the Chem grade is Irritating me. I walked out of my final feeling SOOOO confident, and then I end up getting a C overall. I'm emailing the professor, because I think she made a mistake.

I had a C in chemistry I and a B in part II. I also had a C in both parts of A&P. I will graduate next May with my DNP. Don't listen to opinions. Apply to where you want. If you don't get into to any of those programs then re-take it.
