Butter, ice cream, and baseball

Published

I always ask my 90+ year old patients for the secret to living so long. I say, "what's the secret?"

Today, my 95 year old patient replied by saying, "the secret is to eat a lot of butter (not margarine) and ice cream". I asked her how she kept her mind so sharp and she said, "by watching a lot of baseball".

Thought is was cute. Made me smile. Wanted to share.

I've been told by a 102 year old patient that her secret is to eat a piece of chocolate every day.

I've been told by other elderly patients that their secret is to use real butter, real sugar, and real eggs when they cook. There's something about those fake substitutes that kills you.

I go by the chocolate a day rule too. Looks like I'm on track to live to 100! Sweet (no pun intended)!!!

That was cute! Haha!! If I'm blessed to be alive that long I will try and remember that

You better start eating the goodies now. I got the impression she was eating like this her whole life.

Now...if you eat lots of frozen custard, made with real eggs, and lots of butterfat, and it's chocolate...you're all set!

hmmm...I see a grocery store trip in my very near future!

YUM!

Load up the cart! :)

Hilarious, great idea. Saline lock when tolerating large chunks of butter PO.

well, technically, op is correct...

in that natural food is better for you, than anything processed and chemicalized.

and watching baseball will keep your mind alert.

I always ask the same question!

My favorite response was the gentleman who, every morning, drank 2 oz of red wine mixed with OJ. Now that's a health craze I can get behind!

I enjoy red wine mixed with OJ. Maybe I should have it more often?

Glad to hear others are asking the question! :)

Would the 2 oz make a nurse impaired? If not, sign me up!

Tomorrow's breakfast: ice cream (melted butter on top) with a glass of orange juice wine and a chocolate for dessert. YUM.

My Great Aunt lived until 102. She was living on her own with the

family and friends checking in on her until 100. Would take the bus to

go to the next town to shop and walk in the mall. Her health was

very good, her memory was better than all of us put together.

She would hop the bus back home. She loved to walk and walked daily

long distances..

When asked the secret to living long, she replied "I like to play cards."

The secret the family knew, is that her son would take her on a 3 hour

ride to the casino in a state 2 states away per her request once a month.

She would often win and take her son and daughter in law to lunch...

So add playing cards at the casino to your list:D
