Butte College RN Program

I have consecutively applied to the Butte College Nursing Program for the last 4 semesters (2 years!). When I first applied, I was aware of the waiting list but I was told that the 4th time applying would guarantee a spot in the program due to the increase in chances every semester. I just emailed the program directer who was very nice and helpful, but informed me that most students are getting in their 6th or 7th time applying! I would love to hear from others who are working toward the Butte RN program, how many times they have applied and so on...would love to hear some feedback on other's experiences!

Hi there - new to the group and waiting on my 6th application. I think it should be next week at some point since that will be two weeks after the app close date. I just received an email from Butte saying "Transcript Evaluation Complete". I didn't submit for a transcript evaluation. Anybody else get that?

I have never received that… it seems like something you’d get on your first time. I don’t know maybe it’s a good sign that your getting in??

I just an e-mail saying transcript evaluation is complete also. ?

I ended up calling the registration office and they said it's a random audit that they do, but it seems pretty weird that it would happen to more than one of us...

When do you think we'll get a notification?  I thought it was two weeks after the application date closes.

Has anyone applied for the LVN to RN? Is it the same 6-7 times of applying to get in?

I’m waiting on the response for my 3rd application. Anyone in here knows if a dui misdemeanor is going to affect the background check negatively; like, what the outcome would be?

Im not sure but I do know that a friend of mine had one and it was hard for her to keep her license as a CNA but she was honest with them from the beginning and I think that helped cause it allowed her to keep it. It wouldn’t hurt looking into

I'm not sure, maybe check the handbook for information about that.

But my friend went through the RN program at Butte 9 or 10 years ago, and she got a DWI; she crashed her bicycle and had to be transported to the hospital and received the DWI. I can't remember if it was right after she graduated or right before because she had to fight to get her RN license for like a year or so after graduating. She ended but getting it, but it took a long time to fight (not fight Butte, but who is giving the license).
