Butte College RN Program Spring 2020

Published

I just applied for the first time for Spring 2020, but was reading other threads that said some people had to apply 7 times before getting in (that was in 2014 though)!!! Is anyone applying to the program for the first time or again? What seems to the number of times people are applying these days before they get in?

I’m wondering what the class schedule is like. I am moving out of the area this Summer (about an hour drive) and will be commuting to Butte for the program.
How many days a week do you have classes?

Do you have a choice of morning or afternoon classes or is it the same time for everyone?
What is a normal day/week look like?
Thanks

Hi, CONGRATS on getting into the program! I believe it varies per semester on what time it starts specifically. In general you will have a set of classes that everyone is required to attend and labs. This semester we have lectures in morning and then labs right after 3 days a week. For one day we only have lecture and no lab. School is Monday-Thursday. Hope that helped :)

Thank you so much! That definitely helps! Are the morning classes very early like 8 am? What time of day are you usually done with classes?

@Raqrox This semester all the lectures with labs are in the morning around 7:45am and somedays 8:30am. We don’t get out of classes by 3:30 sometimes 4. Depends what kind of day we’re having LOL. Once clinical starts youll not go to Lab and go straight to the hospital. Therefore you’ll only attend lectures and then clinical.

WOW!, that’s an early start. I’m so sad I didn’t get into the program while living in Chico?. I wish classes were only 3 days a week. Fortunately, I have close friends who I can stay with, if needed.
Thanks for the info.

Are you guys attending school in person still?

Did you get notification from Butte that you got in? Just wondering, because I applied for my 7th time, and I got an email that said they weren't sure what was happening with the incoming class (because of COVID-19), and they would let us know no later than 06/01/2020. Did you receive a different communication from them?

I got the same email saying we’d hear by June 1st. I think the previous person was just asking because she’s moving. I moved from Chico and live in Plumas Lake now so if I get in I’ll be doing a big commute too.

Same! I moved last August to Grass Valley, so I too will have a decent commute when I get in. It's so worth it though! I'm excited to hear back within the next 6 weeks!

Hi ladies,
Not to worry, I received the same disappointing email about not being notified until June. I was just asking about the class schedule because I should hopefully be admitted this fall or next Spring, so I wanted to know what my schedule will be like now that I’m going to have to tack on an additional hour+ commute time. ? Maybe if we all get in at the same time we can start a carpool and meet in Marysville ? I’m moving to Rocklin this Summer. I’m so not looking forward to commuting 4 days a week.

Side note: I also applied to the RT program and received a notice stating that I was not accepted for the fall semester which I thought was strange because how is it they could do the RT lottery but not the RN??? It’s the same person (Michelle) in charge of it, too.

Hmmmmmm. That is interesting. I honestly was wondering about that. The wording of the email sounded a bit like they had already done the lottery, but were not yet revealing the results. There was a part of me that was hoping that only folks who got in were getting the email about waiting to hear until June 1st. I thought perhaps everyone that didn't get in just got the standard "you didn't get in, apply next semester" email. HA! Maybe it's wishful thinking. In any event, we will hear at some point.

How funny! I had the same (wishful) thought. Apparently, everyone got the email though.

Well, shucks. Good luck to you - hope to see you in August!
