Burlington County College Spring 2011 does anyone know what schedule I should expect?

Published

I've applied for spring 2011 and I'm anxiously waiting to hear something from BCC.! I have all my pre-reqs done. I'm currently working in a doctors office from 8-4. I'm wondering if I will I be able to work and do NS. My employer is willing to work with me. I'm not sure if my schedule will allow me to work for them? I don't need a job financially. I would just like to maintain a relationship in the local community to help me later on down the line.

The brochure doesn't really give me an idea of the schedule that we'll have...anybody have a clue?

Hello, I just found out that I will be going into the Spring 11 nursing program als0o. Found out wed and needed everything in by friday. I finished it all and waiting for packet. I am thankful that I got in. See u all Jan.

I'm going to assume that they informed you about the physical and blood work you'll need if not let me know and I'll tell you.

1. Completed Physical Exam form

2. Health Insurance Card (mandatory)

3. CPR for the Professional

4. Initialed signed and dated pg 37 from Nursing Handbook

The items listed above are due Jan 6th between 9am and 4pm

Supplies

textbooks, syllabi, two year clinical record card and uniforms, lab coat (not used for 119 but you'll need in the future), *Student name pins ordered from Pemberton bookstore (takes 6 weeks approx to get them back), trauma scissors, hemostat, black pen, watch that counts seconds, pocket calculator, good quality stethoscope (Litman II), and two-year lab kit for lab component.

We are expected to read Unit 1A Historical Contemporary Nursing Practice from Taylor 7th ed before the first lecture

I would work on getting the doctors appts first....the lab work and ppd's are a process that are the most time consuming. The bookstore doesn't have everything yet...they are expecting everything late this month.

Nope they haven't told me anything yet. I will get my packet this week. Thank u for ur post its all overwhelming since I have to get and do everything in less than a month.

Yeah it's a lot to do I've been working on getting everything done since the first day I got the packet and I'm still not done (although I did spend 2 weeks away in FL). I get my second ppd tomorrow and checked on Thursday which will complete my packet.

Just schedule your appt with your primary care for a nursing school physical. Tell them you'll need bloodwork (the packet will give you the specifics), titer test, and a 2 step ppd. The sooner you get the ppd the better because there has to be 2 weeks in between test (per my primary). So if u get the first ppd on the 14th you can't get the next one until the 28th.

Yeah I know it's alot but I'm know you're screaming with joy to began nursing school because I am :w00t: Lol

Hey Shannon did you order your scurbs yet? if so how much are they. Are you doing the CPR class at BCC on January 11th?

Hey Megan!!!

I picked up a set of scrubs at the Pemberton Campus. I can't remember the price. I think it was around $15-20 for the top and the same price for the bottoms. They were short on smaller sizes so I think I'll pick up 1 addtional set later after they restock. The only thing we need to order is the name tags. I took CPR with the red cross last week so I'm certified girl, hehehe. I don't know why I was so nervous about it (I've taken it ump teen times). I put pressure on myself thinking if I didn't pass I couldn't go on to nursing school. I'm gonna take Nur103 Medication Administration in a couple of weeks and I'm super nervous about that!!! Are you taking it?

Nice! im going to do the CPR class from 9-130 on January 11th at BCC then go to the meet and greet at 4. I talked to a few girls who already took med administration and said it was pretty easy so dont stress too much. I'm taking it 1-4 over winter break. How about you? I cant believe how close we are to starting! What section did you end up getting for clinicals??

How much should I expect to spend on supplies including books

That's good you can get the CPR cert all in one day. I spent 2 days from 6-10pm getting mine. I'm taking the med administration course from 9-12 during winter break. I was lucky enough to get one of the Thursday slots section 44. I had to adjust my vacation a bit to get one of those golden slots, Lol. But I think it was worth it!!!
