Bunker Hill Community College....

I am applying to this school and have just been told my 81% on the reading portion for Teas V is too low. Apparently the program is very competitive and you must score at least a 95% on that portion. Now I am upset because I have to sit through the whole exam again just to raise my grade on that portion. What makes it worse if I get anything lower then the 81% they will only except the most recent. This is my first choice but the way it looks it will be hard to get it. Not to mention 800 applicants applied this year! Anyone get into their program with less then 90% on the teas? It seems their main focus is the Reading Comp.

Not sure where you got your information from. But I know the min. for reading at bhcc is 75. 50 science and 50 math. The teas V test scores about 10 pts lower than the past teas test. So your 81 is really a 91 and also from seeing other post on this website they have accepted people in the 70's for reading in the past. This is my first choice and I scored about the same.... Pretty confident that is a good score. Don't listen to rumors. Hang in there. Do you know when letters will be mailed?

Did you take your test at Bunker Hill? If so you can only take it there once a semester. Who told you it was to low of a reading score? So if your score was a 81 that is what they will accept you can't take it again until next semester which will be too late to apply for fall 2011.

Hi,

I spoke to someone in the admissions office again and she told me that reading, math and science are weighted evenly so not to stress that I did worse on the reading. I've decided to keep my score and actually dropped off the Teas score report today. I originally took the test at RCC. My test for BHCC was for March 26th which is the last test date. I assume letters will go out in April to early May. Hope I get in as well, RCC is my second choice. Good luck to you.

I applied to RCC and Quincy too. What have you heard? Bhcc or Roxbury has a better rep. What does Roxbury weigh their admissions on do you know what is the average composite teas score there? All I know is that all schools in the area and country have dropped their teas v requirements because it is more difficult. I was more impressed with Bhcc presentation. You?

When I took the test at RCC they said they look at the overall score you get and not the breakdown like BHCC. They also mentioned that the passing rate this year is in the 60s because it is their first year using Teas V. They look at you grades from your prereqs and Teas score that is all I know. Also they only except the teas that test you on all 4 parts as oppose to BHCC that test on only 3. I will apply to Quincy, just have to go take the accuplacer which is easier than the Teas I think. The Teas stressed me out, glad it's over!

Quincy deadline was March 15 for fall 2011. Keep in touch... and Good Luck let me know if you hear anything. It's a crazy game! Huh! Accuplacer reading is only 20 questions but tricky. They all want you to get the big picture, I think. U have all your co reqs done too? I will finish mine this semester.

Yes, I am applying to Quincy part time program for Spring 2012 just in case I don't get in anywhere else. I have completed all prereqs and I already have a BS so some of those classes were completed years ago. Is BHCC your first choice?

Actually I have a ba so I have applied to Curry hoping for that. Did u apply to Curry? If I don't get in there then Bunker Hill quincy then RCC

No, I did not apply to any 4 year college because I want to still hold onto my job while in school. I currently work 9 to 5 and if I go to BHCC I want to do their weekend program. Also going to a two yr will be more affordable. Maybe once I'm working I can get an employer to pay for my Bachelors or masters. I hope you get into Curry cause I heard they have a good program.

I am applying to the accel bsn I already have a bachelors with this program I can bet my second bachelors in 16 months . It is very competitive so doing 2 year as back ups. Well see soon.
