Yes I have a start date and pay. She's already given me my hours but all that is not on a letter to me. Maybe Rehabs do things like that? She said I'll fill all paperwork day of orientation. I'm not even sure they have a full staff HR dept. I think they hired an outside recruiter that's only there once a week. I'm not sure I'll get this letter it seems. She was very reassuring to me to tell my employer I'm leaving. I would hope she would not screw me over but you never know.

I will call and ask for either a letter or email before I tell my current employer I'm leaving. I don't think it's asking much but it was like I was asking because I did not believe I got the job. The assured me I got the position but I just don't do stuff like that.

I know I'm the same way. Like I have to give notice this week to my current boss that I'm leaving. He has no clue I'm an RN now and I'm going to feel like a big liar cause I've keep this secret but you know what.,, you have to do what's best for you. This lady does not know you personally and will just hire the next person in line. Also just remember employers don't hesitate to lay you off or fire you if they have to. It's part of the job. Don't feel guilty and trust me this is not considered burning a bridge at all. It's actually considerate because some may not even call or show but you at least will let them know you can't start.

Wow I'm surprised this would be ok not to get an offer letter. How can you be sure that the job is guaranteed? What if I give notice at my current place and something happens at the LTC? I'd be out if a job too embarrassed to go back to my old job which had nothing to do with the medical field.

If you get an offer from Children's then just politely call the other place and explain you got a job in an area that you prefer. They should understand. Think about it this way... You start the other job and hate it and leave after 3 months that will be worse. Follow where your heart is pulling you.

I'm really torn on this because I'm excited to have been offered a job on the spot but when asked for a offer letter I was told no and not to worry I have the job and will start orientation in a couple of weeks. The issue is I have a current job I have to give notice and without something formal I'm scared to do so. The manager promised not to worry and I got the position but you just ever know. It's for a LTC/Rehab facility. Is this the norm at those places? I really was caught off guard. Not sure if I should call and ask for the letter again just afraid they might retract the offer. Please any advice is appreciated.

Bunkerhill Community college offers most of their classes online. I believe Quincy college offers a few classes too. Only thing is that I assume labs will have to be done in person.

I took Nclex twice and failed the first time using ATI. I just took it the second time and did Kaplan and passed. Kaplan is an excellent program and the questions are so close to what you see on the Nclex. I also used the La Charity PDA book which was great cause I had a ton if prioritazation questions. I read Hogan mainly for content but Saunders is just as good. I think you have a great plan and will do well.

I would not worry to much about Phatm, look them over and know suffix but honestly you will likely not see one you've studied. I had 4 math which I made sure I got right and the other meds I had no clue what they were. Passed second time with 130 questions. Good luck to you.

Sorry to hear you did not pass but don't be discouraged. I failed the first time at 265 and near passing on all sections. Just took it again this week and passed at like 130. What I did different is made sure I knew content. I studied all the systems and did practice question in Kaplan and La Charity. Both these played a key role in me passing. I highly recommend both.

I'm sorry to hear you did not pass but don't give up. Kaplan is excellent but knowing your content is key as well. Congrats on your wedding. Just relax and get back into study mode and you will pass next time.

Hi everyone! I've been lurking on this site for years and I have to say I love the info I get from here. First a little bit about me... I graduated in May from a ADN program and I was so relieved and basically just chilled for the summer. Biggest mistake! I study for 3 weeks with ATI before take the Nclex and needless to say I failed at 265 questions near passing on all sections. I'm not saying ATI was not a good program but you really need to do all their questions and read the books. If you are pressed for time then it's not the right route. After that I decided to get an Nclex book and start reading. I used Hogan and read all of the physiological section. Only the parts highlighted Nclex. I also did healthcare promotion. I did not finish this book due to time but having read the physiological section I felt ok about all systems. Next I did several chapters in the La Charity book this I did about 11 out of 18 chapters. Very helpful. I also did all Qtrainer 1 to 7 and maybe 300 qbank questions. I did sample 3 & 4 too. Took my boards yesterday and the computer shut down around 128 I believe. I still don't have my results but I got the "good pop up", hoping its legit. Basically the best advice I can give anyone is KNOW YOUR CONTENT! That was my downfall the first time. For example I knew what a fracture was and what an air embolism was but I had no clue that if you have a fracture you are at risk for an air embolism. And Nclex does not ask direct questions, they phrase them in a way that make you breakdown the question to get to the answer. You just have to know the content to work your way through the questions. My test was loaded with priority questions and maybe like 10 SATA. I was relieved cause I suck at SATA but because I had practiced questions in La Charity I was breezing through those priority and delegation questions. Also Kaplan questions are so similar to Nclex it's crazy. I saw questions that were similar to Kaplan just phrased different but answer was the same logic. Also I got a lot of meds none that I knew I had to just guess. I had 4 math that were easy and probably what saved my butt in that section. Anyways I'm still waiting for my official results and I'm super stressed but I wanted to give my story as well. The stories and tips on here have been super helpful!

some of the responses had me cracking up. its true it depends on the individual every semester will not be the same for everyone. right now i'm taking med surg with psy and it is a lot of info packed into one semester. i passed my first exam but i have like 5 more to go. i'm just hoping i survive the program. one thing i've learned is that studying is key. i try to read a little everyday so that when it comes time for the exam i'm not trying to cram everything in my head. thanks to everyone who chimed in. i hope one day to be telling others what my challenges were and how i made it!
