Hello To All,

Anyone attending Bunker Hill Community College in Boston for the ADN program? I will be starting there in January of 09 and just wanted to know from some insiders how the program is or how the instructors are? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I also think you have a better chance to get in since you are applying for spring and not fall. Which program are you applying for - days or evenings? You can apply for both programs - I didn't know that when I applied.

I think the Spring programs application time was from May- Aug. So if you havent applied already then you missed out :(. But I have to wait to apply for Fall 2009 because Im finishing up my last pre req.:wink2:. BHcc will be my second choice if I dont get in with my first choice school.

Thanks for your concern, PurposebyDesign. I've already submitted my application in August. That's why I was invited to take the TEAS at BHCC. Hope you will get into the Fall program:).

:wink2:Hi everyone,

I'm so excited about attending Nursing Program at BHCC this '09 Spring. However, I'm kind of nervous right now because I don't know what to expect for the next Nursing courses. So would anyone please give me some helpful information about "Fundamentals of Nursing"? What the clinicals are about?

Thanks in advanced,

I'm a Bunker Hill alumuna. I had a prior degree, so I didn't have to take many prereqs, but it still took me a year to get them done. The best were A+P 1 and 2 (I took the hybrid section) and Drug Calculations. The worst were Microbiology (the instructor was very disorganized) and Nutrition (self-study, with no feedback).

Has anypne gone through the Drug Calculations course? I read somewhere that Chemisty plays a big role - I haven't had a chemistry course in almost 10 years.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Once you get the hang of dimensional analysis (which is also used in Chemistry), Drug Calculations boils down to basic math. A calculator is a good idea, but it's not mandatory.

I'm a past grad of the program back in 2002, in the evening program. I thought it was a tough nursing program, but everyone in my class passed the NCLEX. For the most part, 90 % of the instructors are competent.

In fact, I used certain instructors for job references ( been working at MGH) and letter for recommendations for grad school.

As for dimensional analysis, you will totally use it when figuring out dosing meds on the hospital flr.

Ok , now its finally my turn to take the TEAS. It 's scheduled for next month and I started studying this past week already. Im very nervous and I dont know what to expect

Does anyone know how long the test will take ,how many minutes per section and what sections do they focus on? Math,Reading, Grammar ...(some schools only require certian sections)

I've done everything that I can do and it all comes down to this test. and God's help:bowingpur

Hi,

I can't remember how much time you were allowed for each section. There will of course be math and reading sections which will be straightforward. The science section was different than I expected, there were only perhaps 3 A & P related questions, perhaps 3 chemistry questions and 3 physics questions and 5 geology/volcano questions. I got 40% on the geology/volcano questions! There were a few general biology questions too. Last year people started taking the TEAS on February 11th so they are starting late this year.

I actually took the TEAS test yesterday 3/5. I was sooo stressed out. I had great hopes of studying the weeks before the exam, but then...life.

I ended up studying the reading comp. part this past Monday, and then spent the entire day on Wednesday going through the rest of the test study booklet from the company that administers the test - API?

I would HIGHLY recommend getting that study guide! It gives you all of the metric conversions you need to know, all of the rock information you need (plate tectonics, types of rocks, etc.) The book also gives you all of the math formulas you need (circumference, radius of a circle, etc.) I found it very helpful.

Now, I studied pretty much the day before the test and I scored a 97.5% on reading, 88.9 on math, and 83.3 on science...but when I took the tests in the study guide - I did worse! The science section was the hardest for me because it asks so many random chem and physics questions. I did well on math because the study guide does an exceptional job of re-teaching - for example. how many people remember PEMDAS and FOIL? HA.

I would definately know the following (all of which is found in the study manual):

1. Types of rocks

2. The water cycle

3. Metric conversions

4. Math formulas

5. Farenheit - Celcius conversions (that was not in the study guide)

All-in-all, each test is different, but the study guide helped immensely so get it!

Has anyone gotten acceptance letters yet? Does anyone know when they're supposed to be sent out? I'm so eager to know if I got in!

Acceptance letters were sent out May 1st last year.
