Bunker Hill Community College 2014 Applicants

Published

Just wondering if there was anyone out there that is applying to the Bunker Hill Community College Nursing Program this year. I'm hopefully applying in the next application cycle after this semester of Micro, Drug Calc, and a Philosophy class. I'm looking into the night/weekend courses. Current GPA of 3.2.

I didn't know CPR had to be done before the program, I thought it was something they would arrange. Glad I just did mine threw work!! I thought during the nursing session they said 2 nights a week would be lecture and weekend would be clinical. They must have changed things

Hey guys, I found the link on the bhcc website where it talks about CPR. Check out http://www.bhcc.mass.edu/media/03-documents/OnlineNursingOrientationSession.pdf. It's under additional requirements.

Does anyone know where typical placements are for clinicals? I don't have a vehicle and I'm hoping I won't need to get one...but just curious. Do they even place at MGH or any of the major hospitals?

Skay im in the same boat and quite nervous seeing that they said at the info session they don't have in clinical sites in Boston. These days only BSN students get placed at clinical sites in Boston. I heard some of the clinical sights are in Tewkesbury, Burlington, Salem, and West Roxbury.

Don't worry tho a car can't deter us....and i'm hoping we meet nice ppl in the program who will car pool.

I know there is a bus that leave from the Charlestown campus that a lot of students use

Yeah - I'm up for splitting a subscription to Zipcar or the like as well. My boyfriend and I may be moving to the town where he works and then in that case I can use his car. I just HATE driving in the city! I wonder if we are allowed to try to get our own clinical placements...? Highly doubtful though. I feel like the info session I went to was sooo long ago.

I can't wait until the orientation session. Has anyone made a Facebook page?

Haha I feel the same way I've been trying to remember everything from the info session but it was long ago! I deleted my fb and only have instagram now

Probably a good thing! It is nothing but a distraction lol. I wonder if there is a way to make groups on here and have private threads.

I'm not to sure... I actually forget how to start a new thread lol

I wonder if we get fitted for uniforms on the day of orientation??!!

If you guys start a new thread, invite me. The CPR class at Carney hospital was good. It was $40 and is CPR/AED for healthcare providers, by the Red Cross.

I'm waiting for my call back from BHCC about CPR...

Wow Karatefoot thats pretty inexpensive compared to some of the other places I've checked. Most places want about $70 for the course. I'm considering doing it online and then going in person for the skills assessment.
