I'm in my last semester (4th) and my clinical instructor has been bullying me and making fun of me (even cussed at me) in front of my clinical group during post conference.
I've had positive clinical evaluations from all my past clinical instructors. But now, I'm feeling discouraged...She favors some students even though they don't give good SBAR or can't answer critical thinking questions about their patients or even do assessment on time. I still get chewed out even when I answered questions about my patient or give my SBAR or during my med administration she will ask me total random question or something to throw me off. She makes me feel nervous. When I go to her and update her on my patient (like any new reports) she will angrily say You're bugging me or You're hovering over me. And then later she will yell at me and say why do i never communicate with her. I'm so confused. I'm lost and feeling depressed because no matter what i do, she is never satisfied. I have only 3 weeks left and almost ready for graduation and she told me there is no hope for me in passing her clinical.
I'm gonna have clinical this coming Tuesday and she said she will be with me and if she isn't satisfied, I will be dropped.
Take your previous instructor's advice. Escalate this up the chain of command. If you feel more comfortable communicating in writing, perhaps consider writing everything up and sending it to the Dean. However, nothing beats a face to face meeting. Be prepared, dress professionally, and bring your documentation and notes to keep your discussion focused and directed to the issue at hand. Past performance is usually a good predictor of future success, and it sounds like you have been quite successful in your program up until this point. Advocate for yourself. I know it's nerve wracking, but please, go for it. You've come so far, and really, if she is planning to drop you, you don't have much to lose. Advocate for yourself. At risk of sounding like a makeup ad, You, and your future career, are worth it!
if you are not going to take any of the advice offered, there is nothing we can do for you here. And this is coming from a person who was similarly mistreated in nursing school. minus the crudity. i didn't have this forum to turn to, so i didn't have the advice and support you are being offered. I suspect from reading your posts you are not a native English speaker, that may be part of your problem... if not that I would wonder if you are on the Autism spectrum. If i were you, and not going to fight this, i would certainly seek out some therapy.
I'd be very curious as to what you read from the OP that made you go to this conclusion?

What on earth made you say something like that? What is the matter with you? This CI has no right treat anybody like the way she treated the OP regardless of native English speaker or not. To tell someone that they have autism and need therapy is cruel and cold. You need the therapy not the OP.
Think before you speak (or write in this case).

Negative Nancy strikes again. Oy vey. What in the body of the OP's post(s) would ever lead you to the conclusion that she is on the Autism spectrum? Are you a diagnostician? I fail to see how any part of your post is helpful.
To the OP- I'm very sorry that you are being bullied by your CI. My advice is to document your interactions with her in case you need them later. Also, if the harassment continues to follow the chain of command with respect to your instructor's superiors. There must be some policy in place at your school for situations like this.
In the meantime, complete your work to the best of your abilities, you will be done with this rotation before you know it.
Best of luck.

An idea came to my mind. If you can excess free legal counsel, go talk to them and present your case. See if they can give you some ideas to approach the issue at hand. Because if the Dean of your school doesn''t take appropriate steps to reslove the situation, then maybe a legal one might. You could always notify the licensing department for nursing and run it past them. Maybe if the CI realizes her nursing license is in jeopardy, she might back off. Another thing is be careful she is not reading these posts.
Thank you guys.
I don't care about what that person said about me. I know that I came this far to 4th semester with good merits from my teachers.
Btw,
my clinical teacher emailed me and said that my other lecture teacher didn't add the point to my score, which is completely LIE. my other teacher did add that point last wednesday and our entire class knows this as a fact, along with the proof of her email.
my clinical teacher purposely took away that point and lowered my score as well. crazy..i swear..the nursing board needs to be aware that this approved this less of a human being to teach nursing students.
FYI
my director finally emailed me back this morning and said she is available to speak on Thursday.
Till then, i'm going to gather all my evidence and write down what my clinical teacher said so that I am well prepared to speak.

Is there any possibility for me to report this to the Nursing Board of California or Teacher's Association?
