I have heard various people talking about BSN vs. ADN, saying that soon most hospitals and jobs will require you to have a BSN. Does anyone know of any validity to this?? What will happen with all the ADN's, seems there's a lot. Just curious. I plan on going back for my BSN, but maybe I should get on it sooner than later!
Not anytime soon. The talk about making the BSN the point of entry level professional nursing started in the 1950s. As you can see, the idea is not yet firmly in place or practice. Most likely will not happen in our lifetime.
famous last words, especially as the UK will be graduate entry only in the 5 years ...

Well in my home state and my home town BSN is required for Diabetes Educator. All the jobs advertised required a BSN or MSN. Actually had to go to a diabetes class in another local town ( I was gestational diabetic) and the diabetes educator there was a MSN. It is very competitive here where I am it's a ghost town of textiles and now everyone is going back to school for nursing! Not to mention we have a local baptist college who graduates 80 to 90 students every year. So in my opinion anymore you will be better off with a BSN. Also all of the jobs at the local health department are also requiring a BSN. Just saying what I have factually experienced in my general area of approx 100 mile radius.
