BSN or ADN program?

I have most of the pre-req's for two school's ADN program and the TEAS score to get in. One ADN program, I will have to wait until Fall 2013 to start, the other one I will start Fall 2012, if I get in. On the other hand, I have the option of transferring to a college that will take me as a Freshman and allow me to be a pre-nursing major, so that I can work toward getting a BSN, granted it will take around 4 years to complete. What do you guys think?

    It really is a personal choice. There are so many different avenues to take when working towards your final goal.

    Here is what I mean.

    1. You can complete a BSN by 2016 by going traditional

    2. The earliest time you can complete your ASN is 2015.

    If you are looking to go to graduate school, a BSN is required. While there are some schools that offer an RN to MSN degree, you are still required to take additional courses to fill the BSN requirement prior to starting graduate courses. If you think about it, you will only have an additional year time commitment in completing your BSN degree based upon start dates.

    If you read on the site, you will find that many ASN graduates are finding it increasingly difficult to secure employment. Some BSN graduates are also finding it difficult.

    From someone who did her LVN, to RN to BSN....just go for the BSN. It's easier to find a job, there's more opportunities, and the fact that you won't be adding much more time for it it's definitely worth it. If you can afford it, and don't have other obligations to slow you down, I really recommend it.
