Broward Community College Students

Hello,

I am starting the RN program on Monday, 08/20/07. I am wondering if there are any other students here who are attending or have attended. I am interested in some guidance and a study group. I live in Sunrise and go to the Central Campus in Davie.

Please PM me for my email.

thanks.

hello there.... i was wondering to those who applied already, did you mailed out the form or did you just drop it on campus? and when do we have to take the exam like the math, i read in some other post that each term we have to take a math test... does it include the first term? do i need to take any entrance test?

there currently isn't an entrance exam. you take a math test each class. during the first semester, you attend a four week math course first. in each additional course, you take the test on the first clinical day.

leavingteaching4rn - so are you telling me not to mail it out and drop it on campus? where in the admission office? where the nursing center is...??? thanks

I would drop it off. The one on north campus shares an office with financial aid. I believe it's in building 46 on the second floor.

did you drop it off? thanks... oh by the way is it true that the highest point is 25 well 28? but how? the highest point you can get with the gpa is 16 + 1 for recendy + 5 for hosa... thats 22 points where the other 3 or 5 points come from? :/ im nervous my gpa is 3.0 ;( thats only 6 points + 1 + 5 = 12 points sniff:: sniff

I just got accepted to the RN program at BCC for May 2009 at the north campus? do you have any advise?

Congrats. I don't have any advice since I'm not in the program and haven't even applied yet, but I will say that if you can, get a jump start on the reading.

Good luck!

hi leydylaura,

just to let you know, you might have a chance of getting in. i applied for the may program and i got accepted. i have a 3.0 and 12 points also. i didnt think that i had a chance only because my gpa was low. i think you have a better chance of getting accepted if you have more points. my friend had a 2.9 and had 6 points but she did not get accepted. my other friend had a 3.0 and had 7 points and she got accepted. so with the 12 points that you have you should be able to get in especially cuz you took HOSA. people were telling me that i might not get in cuz of my gpa, and so i was feeling bad.:scrying: so when i got my email i cried and i was thanking God the whole day.:yeah: hope this makes you feel better.

CONGRATS!! OMG i have a chance! lol well i was thinking of taking fall off, since i'm graduating from FAU this upcoming May. But with this news I will definetly apply for August. Even though i have to wait till May, which sucks, i wanted to apply early but since i'm graduating from FAU, BC wants all my classes well transit before applying. Do you know if its first come first serve? i hope not... I really want to do this! but if it is & i dont get accepted then i will just wait till January. Well thanks for the info :D oh by the way.... how long did it take for them to accept you???

It is NOT first come, first served. They will not make any decisions until after the May 15th deadline, and decisions can take up to 4 weeks to make. However, at least the last few application periods, it hasn't taken that long. More like 1-2 weeks.

I also asked this question to the Associate Dean of Nursing herself, and was told it does NOT matter at what point you turn your application in. March 1st and May 15th have the same chance. It's all the amount of points you have (which is mostly based on your program GPA).

just like sunraygurl said its not first come first serve....Thank God!!:) i applied the very last day for the may program. i found out i got accepted on feb 15th. they had sent out emails letting people know by when they would be getting their acceptance emails. mine said that i should receive an email by feb 13th. but i know some people found out that they were accepted even before that. i had posted before that a friend of mine that a had a 2.9 did not get in, but yeseterday she got an email saying that they accepted her!! she was so happy and relieved. she had planned on doing the lpn program and now she doesnt have to do that. so theres still hope for other people.

oh wow, thats sooo good! Im happy for her and you!

do you know anyone doing the online RN program? if so, do you know how it works? i think that will be my only alternative. i need to work, and there this managerial position at a hospital i want to take, but not sure since nursing, so i was thinking of doing that. a friend said is the same, both are hard, so for those that need to work, the online program is the best alternative. yet i tried to search for more information and couldnt find any. i will really appreciate if anyone can tell me about it. or know someone doing it. thanks in advance!
