Broward College Nursing Program January 2017

Published

Hello to all the future Applicants for the January 17' nursing program. I know it's really early and August admission process hasn't been completed yet but I couldn't help my self. I'm so anxious to get in the program it took me a long time to get to this point. I have completed all the pre reqs that have an affect on your gpa and I have a 3.0. I recently just passed the Hesi for the second try with a 76% in anatomy, 92% in math and 80% in the other 3 sections. I'm in MGF1106 right now grades will post early Aug. so I'm going to turn in the Application right after that. I hope this forum can be used for all us to get through this waiting process together.

Oh wow I have to explore my options. Nursing is my passion. I'll be a nurse soon

Hey everyone, I applied for the August program, but didn't get accepted :( My calculated pre-req GPA is a 2.9. This is because I have a C in anatomy 1. I was really hoping to start in August, but now I will apply for January. When can we turn in our applications for the January term? and can we use our same HESI scores?

Me to I had a 2.8 [emoji30] I'm not sure how we proceed with that!? I emailed an advisor so I'm waiting for a response.

I also got a C in anatomy 1 I want to try and re take it at a different school so I can up my GPA ! I hope we can get in for January

Everything is on file when you're ready to reapply tell nichole.

im in the same boat also hoping for January

I got a c in anatomy 2 and I want to retake that along with English

I know I wish we could retake it, but we cant because a C is considered passing. I know it is possible to get accepted with our GPA's because previous semesters have. I just hope they give us a chance.

I applied for August as well. I was not accepted due to the C I have in Anatomy 1. I have all B's in all of the other classes. I received an email this morning indicting the following:

There were 437 applicants competing for 260 seats in the August 2016 Registered Nursing (AS) class. Two hundred and sixty (260) applicants were selected who earned between 7 and 16 total points and had pre-requisite GPA's between 3.1 and 4.0. Alternates earned 6 total points, and had pre-requisite GPA's between 3.0 and 3.09. In this class, there are 50 alternates.

I spoke with an advisor who informed me that I can only retake this class over at a private school (I.e. Keiser) which is approximately $2,200.

I am about to call all the local "accredited" private schools to price compare.

To all the alternates (like me) is anyone as nervous as me to find out what they are going to tell us at the orientation ? Like where do we go from there ? In the past have they told the alternates at orientation that their are spots for them right then and there or how does it work ? Is everyone doing the waiting game or have other plans ?

As for me I will attend orientation and have my hopes up but also looking into my other options like this technical school that offers an lpn program for 14 months which I might do if not accepted officially of course. and transition over to do the lpn to RN which takes 1 year. I just don't want to rely on getting in for January and waste more time :(

I would be care going the LPN to RN route because BCC does not accept LPN without working experience. I was originally going that route last year until I was informed but the Dean of the Nursing program.

Does anyone know for those who are being rolled over to January if we have to pay the app fee & re apply?

I do believe that we have to repay and reapply.
