Hi everyone I didn't see one made yet so I guess this will be the official thread for BC May 2015!
They just put my app in a box and told me to keep checking my email. I couldn't pay for because it wasn't entered in the system. The advisor I had a meeting with told me my transcripts wouldn't be evaluated until applications are reviewed because I'm not currently taking courses at BC. I wasn't told how many points I have either. :-/
In the end, it really doesn't matter because they will see its for health admissions and sent it over. I would call tomorrow to see if health admin. received your application. And, by the way..I have not attended BC either, and they're still accepting my transcripts. I don't know why they told you that. Winter term will be the first semester I will attend the school. I just found out there is a half half situation with chemistry and microbiology. Technically, if you're up for it, you can take chemistry fast track, finish that and take micro fast track and be done with both by may. Something I am highly considering.
Just came back from info session:Just so you know, May is hardest to get into because compared to other admissions, which are about 300 people, they only accept about 100.
If you have not take Micro like myself, you HAVE to take it before alterations. Not trends, alterations. And if you get accepted into the May program, you will have either summer A or B to take micro, and that it MIGHT not be available to take at BC in the summer, forcing you to take it at another college. Right now, I am waiting for the advisors to come back from a meeting at 4pm to ask them if they usually have microbiology classes offered on this campus or another broward campus during the summers. I would advise doing this over the summer BECAUSE you will do clinicals and the clinicals will vary during the nursing program.
They say they are thinking about having clinical during saturdays and sundays since it is getting harder to get spots in hospitals on regular days, so rethink if you were planning to work only weekends like I was....this is not concrete however, but they did say they will be making some changes for the incoming May class most likely.
Online classes are offered but if you pick online, you will be stuck with that for your whole nursing program. You cannot switch from online to generic face to face or generic face to face to online; also note that failure rates among students is higher for those who take online classes.
If you are taking a class in the winter term that is required for admission into the program, don't choose the ones that end in MAY because the health admissions lady told me they will most likely pick their students in the middle of MARCH. You could take the risk, because if people don't respond to their seats and admission, they can qualify...BUT since they only accept about 100 students in MAY, the risk will be too high.
I just paid for my fee, turned in my application and my information on the computer is updated except for the payment which will probably be up soon. She said not to panic if I see denied on my lm access webpage, which I see its written already. She said that my CNA license has to be evaluated along with my transcripts which I will have by 2nd week of december latest. My CNA license will exempt me from having to take hcp0001.
I was advised to wait until I get admitted into the program to have those extra certificates done because they all expire within 2 years. I have all but one done already because when i got my CNA license I was told to do them to get hired (which I haven't but whatever).
I will post more info, especially if you haven't taken micro yet like me!
Micro is always available. I don't know who told you you had to take it elsewhere.

You might not want to scare people with the "online failure rates" bit. Sometimes you get a class fully online like I currently have: Ortho/Neuro.
I wasn't trying to scare anyone, I was just saying what they told us at the info session. I haven't really had any experience with fully online classes, only partial online, where we met once a week for updates, I wasn't fond of it but I got an A, it was US Government. I was considering taking micro in the summer, but I just signed up for the chemistry/micro fast track option for the winter term that way I can have everything done before nursing school. I am doing this because I am aware it is recommended for students to take micro before pharmacology, and I also did not want to worry about taking it while doing clinicals. I heard horrible stories about micro labs running into clinical days!

your transcripts HAVE to be evaluated so you can get points. Even though my transcripts show not evaluated because I am currently taking nutrition and have to have that completed to have them be officially evaluated, my 16 max points were awarded, because I completed my anatomies with As, math and english with As as well. When did you send in your transcripts?
