Hey there! This is a tread for anyone trying to get into the May nursing program in Broward College. Have you guys completed everything we need?

I still have to take my HESI and I am half way done with the Health Core class. I am so nervous. I am still not completely sure on how BC does the admission criteria, but I have high hopes.

Leave anything below. Lets help each other out :)

I bought the fundamentals of nursing text (which is huge!) and the clinical book like 2 weeks ago, both off of amazon. I'm waiting to buy the others.

Finally got my email! How do you guys know which books to buy? I did not want to buy them until I knew I got in for sure. Which books should I get now or online? Guys I am so happy for us, and I have no idea where to even start with everything I have to do lol. Orientation is April 8th at 9 am.

I would like to congratulate you guys!!!! This has def been a loooonng wait and finally the wait is over..Got pre admission this morning!!! yay!!!! pre admission meeting at central campus @ 9 am...lets not wait to do our paper work guys, lets get the physical and backgrounds checks done, and anyone like myself that have to do the hsc required certifications? , do u guys know how and where to get them?

I know from looking at billions of older posts lol. Also, I asked current students in the January 2014 forum. You should at least get the Fundamentals of Nursing text by Potter & Perry. The 8th edition is the newest. That way you can start reading early.

The certifications I got through Broward College they still have classes open that are in April you just sign up for them like you would for a regular class, let me know if you need the codes to the courses.

Don't take this the wrong way please... I am sharing about myself...

This whole time, I just knew I would get in because they didn't have a lot of candidates. Everytime I would go see someone at school advisement, admission, call the nursing dept. etc. they would tell me that everyone who met criteria would probably get in and not to worry because they had plenty seats. I had even been encouraging everyone I ran into to that was waiting for August to apply because the seats were there for the taking.

I also felt this way because of my points and hesi.

**my points were low, and my hesi was a little above average but not by much. Not compared to some of you scholars :) . Even with that LOW SCORE, I wasn't really nervous. ***

Now to hear that there is a waiting list, makes me feel really proud that I got in. Sad for those that have to wait. However, I know now that I really did earn my spot. They had to compare me to peers and they decided I deserving. I am grateful. Sometimes its important to know how you measure up, know that you make the grade. It helps you to know that you are doing a good job. In other words encouragement.

Again, I wish we could have all began in May. I mean none of the above as a slight to anyone. I am proud of us all.

Thank you, again, I hope they open up more seats in order for the others to begin in May.

Just a tip: There are two meetings scheduled for April 8. Don't ask to change your meeting time. The meetings were split to accomodate max students in the room.

Thank you Lord, you're amazing. Pre Admission I can't believe it. I received the email too and replied. For those of you future applicants, if you have a low gpa like me, apply early and apply for the summer session. I had a 2.7 gpa and 83 on the hesi 3 points only. Yeah that is a miracle!!! I had to double check.
