Broward College May 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi guys!! Haven't seen any threads for May 2018 so I figured why not start one!! I just submitted my application for Broward's May 2018 LPN-RN program so anxiously waiting for the deadline. While I wait I'm attending Keiser to retake A&P 1 and lab to boost grade up! What's everyone doing to pass the time?

Thank you and I understand where you're coming from!!! I definitely appreciate all feedback and advice!! Can you tell us what supplie and/or books we should focus more on buying and getting.

Am I the only one without points or an email? I turned my application in at North campus over about 2 weeks ago and have nothing showing up on my limited access page and no email. I went to talk to an advisor today and they said I have to allow them 30 days to process. I couldn't talk to a health science admission person because they all left by the time I was done with class. I'm sending them an email but I feel like my application is lost.

I posted Ms. Nichole's email. And I doubt it's lost. It just probably hasn't been processed yet. And they're closed Friday's I believe for processing. But if you feel uncomfortable or edgy her email is on the post :)

I was told that they tell who "beat" you through points if you were not accepted in an email, is that true?

No. They tell you what the lowest GPA accepted was. Not who beat you. Never heard of that.

Oh my goodness....that would be some new form of torture if you ask me! Thankfully they don't do that í ½í¸…

I did some research and the main book you need is Fundamentals of Nursing by Perry and Potter. It is in the 9th edition. I bought it off the Elsevier website for $117 so I could start reading ahead. I couldn't find a used copy of the 9th edition and the teachers tend to use the newest one. Amazon was the same price. Im waiting to buy everything else until i have a list and financial aid kicks in.

Maybe someone will know on here. So I've completed my application and everything else. However I didn't didn't send in my residency papers in. I was trying to find the deed to my house. Is this a problem ?

I would focus on brushing up on math if it isn't your strong suit. Kaplan math for nurses is cheap and gives you a overview of what basic arithmetic you'll need, and a basic overview of dosage calculations.

Once you are accepted, I'd highly recommend spending the $70 or so on a decent stethoscope and a few bucks on a good penlight. (The equipment from the bookstore is horribly cheap and overpriced, with the exception of the manual BP cuff).

BC bookstore does price match new & used rental books! If you bring them a printout of what amazon (and a few other vendors) is renting a book for as opposed to them, you could easily save 30-60% on books. For example, they were renting a book for $86.00 and I found it on amazon for $35.00 to rent. They matched it.

Get an extra pair of scrubs..keepin your car...never know what body fluids you might encounter in clinical.

Thanks. All good information. To know!!!

Gettlemann im not sure about the deed thing for residency. However I know you can bring in your car registration, Florida issued ID, voters registration card, military issue card just to name a few others. Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

Ah, my friend said something like that, couldn't remember exactly what is was but that makes more sense, thanks.

Ok thanks @kiverson001. That actually did help a bunch
