Hi guys!! Haven't seen any threads for May 2018 so I figured why not start one!! I just submitted my application for Broward's May 2018 LPN-RN program so anxiously waiting for the deadline. While I wait I'm attending Keiser to retake A&P 1 and lab to boost grade up! What's everyone doing to pass the time?
_Kiie I wouldn't stress or worry. They start processing and completing applications during this time so they'll appear. But I know when someone said that to me I was still so antsy. So below is Ms. Nichole's email just in case.
Kiverson001 to answer your question from last night....I think I won't start buying anything until I know FOR SURE I'm accepted. Did you find something online that lists what we'll need? If so please let me know where you found it so I can take a look.
Have you taken micro yet? I'm taking it now...its a lot of studying so I think this is a little baby step to prepare me for whats to come LOL.
Congrats on everyone who is applying to the program! I wouldn't discredit those who are trying to give you advice on the program, however.
Pros:
- highly regarded program. BC students know their stuff. That is a fact, not an opinion.
- you'll feel quite prepared for boards.
-professors have a wealth of knowledge to draw from!
-the professors try to be as flexible as possible. There are a myriad of students here; they understand sometimes things come up.
-no handholding or coddling.
Cons:
-no outside help. No help from ASC, no tutors. Professors usually have too many students to give strict one on one to those struggling.
-you are graded on 3 tests only.
-VERY fast paced. For instance, OB was about 32 or so chapters to be covered in 2 1/2 weeks before the first test, in addition to clinical prep.
-there is an extremely low retention rate. (They DO tell you this, so not sure why someone said they didn't?) I believe 20ish of my original class graduated out of over 100. Many failed 1st semester.
Please be aware that yes, there are students who made it through without failing. But there are VERY many who retracked, failed, or left for another program. I know of several nurses who failed at BC, went to another school, and are practicing.
That above is not an opinion. It is just a fact that you should be aware of, so you can be successful when things get tough. This program is one of the toughest things I ever did, and I used to own my own business.
Just take it one day at a time and good luck!
