Broward College May 2011

Published

Anyone else palnning on applying for May 2011. Im currently in the process of transferring back to broward and I am planning on applying for May. I have all my pre-reqs done and I already took and passed the HESI, and I also have HOSA so I think I may be in a good position(fingers crossed). I just need to take Micro & I plan on taking that in the winter term. If anyone can recommend a teacher I would greatly appreciate it.

Yes my points have been calculated. It did take like 2 weeks after I turned in my application for it to get updated.

Ok thanks. I turned in my application the day fall term grades were posted, 1 day before they went on their 2 week winter vacation. So I guess it may still be a couple of weeks. Who are you taking for micro? I have prof B at central campus for lecture and prof H for lab.

Yea I called a few times after I turned in the application because I was wondering why my points weren't updated and then one day when i logged in there were finally posted. I am doing both lecture & lab at Central and for lecture it is with Prof O at lab prof J. I have 14 points. How many do you have?

Hello Everyone

I wanted to take the HESI test for Broward college. I sent the email for the HESI before the holidays and no reply. When i called them they told me everything is now done online and to go to the school website for instructions. On BC site the only info is to email regarding taking the test. I tried to call the school with no response. Can someone let me know how do i go about registering to take this test?

Thank you

If you look at question # 14 & 15 on the below link, it gives you instructions on where you can take the HESI.

I took it at FAU and if thats where you want to take it just follow the instructions on this link and you can register to take it

http://www.fau.edu/testing/HESI_BC_Reg_Instructions.php

Did you call them directly and took it there? or you first had to email to be eligible to take it?

No one determines if you are eligible to take the test you just have to register to take the test online. You select the date/time that you would like to take it. You can call them if you need help registering or for further clarification.

On the BC site it says:

STEP 1) How to Become Eligible to register for test at Elsevier

Registration is done by contacting Elsevier

To register for Elsevier HESI test, students are to send the following listed information to Elsevier

Review and Testing using this e-mail address: [email protected].

I must be missing something. Can you send me the link to register? i believed i tried before but it asked me for a pin.

Thank you so much for you help.

I looked at it again and you only have to send that email if you want to take it a Elsevier prometric testing site

How do I become eligible to take the test at Prometrics host site?

Follow directions provided at each host site for registration. Registration for the test is a two-step

process for Elsevier Prometrics Testing Sites: (Directions Further described below).

If you don't mind taking it at FAU, you can just click on this link and follow the instructions to register and you do not have to email anyone. When I was registering I just followed everything on the FAU link and had no problems. Hope this helps

Couturediva,

I haven't been assigned any points yet, but I should be getting 14 also- 13 for gpa and 1 for broward resident.

Hopefully thats enough points to get us in..

I sure hope so! I did well on the HESI so hopefully that will give me an edge, but I'm not sure how the HESI scores weigh into the selection process. We will find out somewhere in the 5 week range from now, right?

Hey all, I am starting the January program in a couple days and wanted to let you know that I was accepted on my first try. I had a total of 10 points, no HOSA. I got a 92 on the HESI. The counselors will tell you that your HESI score doesn't count towards getting in when in all actuality it does. I did not retake any of the sections.

It's funny because I thought I was through all of the tough stuff once I got my application turned in but they give you a list of 500 other things to do. It is very expensive getting everything required before their deadlines so just a heads up. You need to get a physical with titers done which insurance DOES NOT cover so you are looking at at least $250, and background check that is $38, criminal finger printing that is $61, and the drug test is $34 or so. I wish someone had told me before so I was prepared for the shock of the cost of it all.

I am lucky and have financial aid but if I did not there would be no way I would be able to afford the tuition and books for the first semester. The tuition alone is $1,400 and the books can cost you up to $1,300. Luckily you use most of the books throughout the program and it gets less and less expensive each semester.

Just a little tip on waiting about your acceptance- On the page that shows you your points etc, your status will change to pre-admission if you have been accepted. They notify you by email later in the day but your status changes to pre-admission early before the email goes out. Good luck all!!
