Just wanted to start a thread for Broward's May '16 RN program! I'm finishing up my application process this week.
My hesi was a 87% overall, with 90's in Math, Reading, and Vocabulary, an 84% in grammar, and a 80% in AP.
My prerequisite GPA is a 4.0
Some more words of wisdom for newbies : get yourself a rolling bag off amazon. Your books weigh about 40-50 lbs. Use ceufast.com for CEUs, cost me about $35. Shop around for your BLS class. I spent about $60 I believe for mine. MAKE COPIES OF EVERYTHING for your portfolio. Make sure your socks cover your ankles. Ladies with long hair, NEVER show up to theory, exams, or lab with your hair not already up. The professors will make you step outside to put your hair up. Just make it easy on yourself, show up presentable.i utilize Amazon Student Prime for nearly everything - books, backpack, stethoscope... It is free for 6 months and then only $50 for the year. I have needed to order books quickly at times and receive them in 2 days. I alway pay less than bookstore price.
Get a binder and dividers. I keep everything in one place. If you are not an organized person, things will be very difficult for you. Plan ahead. Professors will write you up for being late and an essay is required.
Lastly, make a buddy. You can not make it in nursing school alone.
About how many books are we expected to take to school each day?

What options do we have if we have slightly long bangs in front? clips or bobby pins that match hair color, I'm assuming? Do they require any specific hairstyle, or do they only care that it is tied neatly back?
What reasons did your classmates fail lab? Was it return demo they failed?
Does anyone know when the papers are due to turn in? I can't recall if they mentioned it at the orientation. Thanks!!
I asked today and they said after registration wednesday but not sure by when. I would email Nichole. I plan on turning mines in next week to make sure I have everything in order well in advance if anything should come up.

it says on the paper we signed:
"students must sbmit their folder with all required documentation to the RN program office on the campus where the student has enrolled in nursing classes by the deadline provided by the program office.
Please visit your BC emails frequently for updates regarding turning in your RN folders."
i believe the due date varies between campuses.
The only things I have left are my physical (getting done today) and my CPR (on the 12TH, only day I could find)
