Broward College May 2016 RN program

Published

Just wanted to start a thread for Broward's May '16 RN program! I'm finishing up my application process this week.

My hesi was a 87% overall, with 90's in Math, Reading, and Vocabulary, an 84% in grammar, and a 80% in AP.

My prerequisite GPA is a 4.0

Hello eveyone unfortunately for me I have everything except the passing hesi score for the A&P portion. I called and they said the deadline was yesterday but to still apply because there's a chance to still be considered. I'm retaking the A&P portion this Thursday very nervous. On everything else i scored an 80% except math a 90% overall gpa is a 3.0 I'm hoping I pass the A&P to still be slightly considered for MAY 2016. Any one know someone who has applied past the deadline? I heard May they don't have too many applicants making the chance to be admitted greater. Also any last minute tips that helped you pass the A & P portion of the Hesi ? thanks!!

I took the A & P portion 3 times and passed it with a 90 the last time. What helped was looking over my remediation material they email me a few days after. I didn't do that the first few times I took it and kept getting a 74 every time. The last time I looked at the remediation and realized what I got wrong. When I took it the third time I passed it and did very well. Also I didn't freak myself out. I told myself it was okay if I didn't pass it. That I could always apply for August. That helped me relax a lot.

First, take a deep breath, relax, and chin up. I retook my math portion because I panicked and blanked the first time. When i retook it, I passed with a 90%.

The majority of the time, anxiety is the biggest killer of confidence.

If you have an AP book, reviewing the key concepts at the back of the chapters will give you an idea of what you should know at the minimum for that chapter.

also, root/prefix/suffix helps alot. example:

osteo - pertaining to bones

cyte - pertaining to cells

osteocyte - bone cell

itis - relating to inflammation

pleuritis - inflamed pleura

know your anatomical directions, and planes.

rooting for you!

So glad I found this forum, I also applied for May 2016 with a hesi cum of 84%..88% in A&P 86% in vocab 84% in grammar 80% in reading and 82% in math. My pre-req gpa is 2.6. I'm so anxious and nervous. Mostly nervous because I'm seeing other applicants have 2.7 and above gpa's. Anyways goodluck to everyone hopefully the end of this month comes fast. :nailbiting:

Welcome Jasmine! What campus are you interested? I'm planning on picking Central. Hopefully starting a study group with a good few other students.

from what other threads have shown, people have been accepted with 2.7 gpa :)

Does Broward college award points solely based on gpa?

Does Broward college award points solely based on gpa?

yes, points are awarded for GPA only.. 16 points are the max,

and so it continues down to the minimum gpa.

they look at each section of the HESI to make sure you've passed 75% or higher, they don't look at the cumulative score.

welcome!

Either central or south I'm still trying to get reviews from each campus and then I'll see what's my best option. I live in miramar so I'm pretty much located in the middle of each campus.

I'm going to try to go to central as well :) i hear that it is more difficult there but I'm so excited and I am really hoping I'm accepted into the May program :nailbiting:
