Broward College May 2016 RN program

Just wanted to start a thread for Broward's May '16 RN program! I'm finishing up my application process this week.

My hesi was a 87% overall, with 90's in Math, Reading, and Vocabulary, an 84% in grammar, and a 80% in AP.

My prerequisite GPA is a 4.0

Hello everyone, I'm terribly nervous at the status of my application. I have a 2.9 GPA and my Hesi scores were all in the upper 80's to low 90's yet I was awarded only 5 points. That can't be right, can it? I'll be devastated if I can't make it in. Anyone with knowledge on this will be much appreciated. Thanks.

Just have faith. I've reviewed these forums and to be honest I heard of ppl getting in with 5 points. The way I see it, if it's meant for you...nothing will get in the way of you getting accepted. Keep your chin up and you'll get in . :yes:

from what i've seen as well, getting in isn't so much the issue (as long as you've met requirements), it's staying in the program...very intense.

I'm going to order the Perry/Potter Fundamentals 8th edition. Is that the book you got? Any idea which chapters to start reading?

Yes I rented it from book renter for $16. I have a friend that was student here at BC a few semesters ago and she said she recommends renting it instead of buying it. I'm not sure where to start I posted in a few other forums from pasts classes to see if someone will tell me but haven't had much luck. If I get anything I'll update everyone here.

i started on vital signs, health assessment, hygiene, infection control, nursing process. that is what posters from previous threads have recommended.

Earlier on this thread a current student posted her syllabus for Process I lab and lecture as well.

bookrenter is amazing! also, if you have an evolve account, look up the potter/perry 8th addition online resource, and "register" for it (it's free).It gives you answers and rationales to all of the chapter quizzes, key points, interactive quizzes, keyword lists, etc.

Just a few reminders:

* You can check the status of your application by logging into your MYBC account and clicking on Limited Access Application status. Please do not email the Health Science team asking for your status. We are currently working on reviewing applications for two programs.

* If you see any discrepancies, you can send an email to [email protected]. Please make sure you are sending the email from your free Broward College email address.

* We anticipate decisions will go out toward the end of February. Please do not email and ask what specific day, we do not have one.

Hello eveyone unfortunately for me I have everything except the passing hesi score for the A&P portion. I called and they said the deadline was yesterday but to still apply because there's a chance to still be considered. I'm retaking the A&P portion this Thursday very nervous. On everything else i scored an 80% except math a 90% overall gpa is a 3.0 I'm hoping I pass the A&P to still be slightly considered for MAY 2016. Any one know someone who has applied past the deadline? I heard May they don't have too many applicants making the chance to be admitted greater. Also any last minute tips that helped you pass the A & P portion of the Hesi ? thanks!!

The best thing I can say is first and for most... Relax. Glass of wine the night before. Anxiety can take the best of you without you knowing it. I personally took the AP part twice so I know where your coming from. What I did to prepare was I did the practice tests over and over . I studied the answers and the rationale. Questions can be flipped around in different ways. Also, key in on your anatomy. I got a 92% on my second try.

We do not receive as many applications for May as we do for August and January, but we do not take as many students either. The number of applications varies with each term and year.

Students who applied after our cut off date for January were placed in the pool for May because there were more than enough students to fill the class.
