Hey everyone!

I know it's a little early to start this but I just submitted my application yesterday and wanted to know if anyone else has submitted theirs yet.

I am looking to go to Central campus and I'm impatiently waiting to see if I have been accepted.

Hey if anyone is still reading this I had a couple of questions I need help with, im attempting to apply for the August 2019 come the end of may.

1. How do I calculate my pre req GPA, im very worried I won't get in I have As in all my anatomy lectures and lab except for 2 where the lecture may end a C. Im scared this will deter me and I freak out about it daily. My English grade is an AP credit so it won't be involved as far as I know.

2. Do I put on the application which campus I want to do the program at? Which one do you truly recommend?

3. Everyone is giving a lot of HESI help links but is there one that high scorers on this forum can at least agree on is good to work with? Im gonna take it next week.

4. Do they drug test at clinics?

5. Can you taking nursing classes over the summer so you aren't stuck doing the fall/spring track forever and possibly speeding you up by a semester or so?

6. When would you recommend I do microbiology, and should I do it at broward?

7. I've heard a few stories of racism in the program, can anybody give their experience on this?

8. I saw a couple of flyers talking about scholarships for nursing students, if anyone has recieved them how hard are the qualifications and what does that entail?

Thank you for any info you can give me and if I get in I am more than willing to purchase materials from whomever is selling so thanks in advance.

Whew .. You asked a lot . But I have some time to answer . I’m currently in Process II at South Campus.

1. In order to calculate your GPA, you take all of your class grades from Anatomy I & II (lecture and lab) along with English 1101 and add them up on a point scale. A= 4 Points, B= 3 Points, C= 2 Points, D= 1 Point, F= 0. Add all of your points up and divide by 5 and you will have your gpa. The minimum gpa needed is 2.5. In your case, since you took AP English . I am not sure how they are going to calculate your GPA, but i suggest you Calculate with and without your AP course and make sure it’s above a 2.5 and you’ll be fine. I got in with a 2.8. Also I suggest calling the nursing admission office for this question, in regards to them using your AP English grade for gpa calculation.

2. Application submissions are all giving in at Central campus. Once you are accepted then you chose what campus you want or is able to get in due to space. I do not have a recommendation on which campus is the “best” but I will say pick the one that is closest to your home. Just for convenience . Get home in 20 minutes instead of an hour for travel time. Remember studying is very important.

3. I don’t have any website recommendations. I personally used HESI apps on my iPhone and did a whole bunch of free practice questions from there. I even paid for a few.

4. I believe so. But your best bet is to call these clinics before going to them. And if I’m not mistaken .. they made us go to a Lab Corp to give spice-men. (I don’t remember) All of this information will be giving to you with GREAT elaboration once you get accepted at orientation. So don’t worry about this as of yet. HESI is more important.

5. I’m not to sure what you are asking. But each rotation has a schedule and they are all the same length. A new rotation starts every January Spring, May Summer, and August Fall. They are all the same length.

6. I prefer you take microbiology before getting into the program or you will have to take it while in the program and it’s a tough balance. They do give us a summer off and i prefer you actually enjoy that vacation instead of taking a class. Completely your choice though. I don’t think taking the class during or before the program matters . As long as it gets done.. you’re good lol.

7. I have experienced no racism and I’m at south campus. Our class is very diverse and I never experienced or noticed any signs of racism. Have you heard racism being present in this program ? I’m curious to know (I am an African American/black Female)

8. They have a few. But I don’t know the full details . Due to the late timing of my reply, tomorrow If I remember I will give a little information on Scholarships . BUT you are given all of this information in orientation once you get accepted.

Hope this helps and Good Luck on your Hesi and your admission process !

The GPA calculation is incorrect. To calculate the GPA, for lecture classes an A is 12 point, B is 9, C is 6. For labs, an A is 4 points, B is 3 points and a C is 2 points. Add up the points and divide by the number of credits which is 11. However in their case they would only use the grades from the A&P courses to calculate it and divide by 8 instead of 11 because the AP credit for English is not calculated in the GPA.

Applications are accepted on both North and Central campuses. When you apply, you are applying to the program not a particular campus.

I gave my application at North campus in March. do you know how long we have to wait for the acceptance after May 30? One month? I see August 19 the date for application it is just 2 months. Thx

Decisions go out within 30 business days of the close of the application period.

Somebody know if we can do or renew CPR (my CPR card is expired) and physical immunization before the acceptance. I think I will need all my injections again. I did that back in 2010 when I did my medical assistant career :( Thx

Hello,

I plan starting the program fall of 2019.

I plan on attending central campus.

How is central campus?

How are the professors at that campus?

Does anyone have some advice?

What books and chapters should I start reading?

What are some tips for time management?

What are some great study habits?

Can someone also provide me with a list of books for central campus?

I am purchasing material.

If anyone has books and material for sale please private message me.

I am also looking to purchase uniform I am a size small

I could sell you most of the books you need. I dropped off the program in January. Let me know if you need it.
