  1. Do you think Broward College Pre's should have change or stayed the same?

      I like the credit change.
    • The preq's should have stayed the same.
    • I think it's great because it helps more students to become prepared for the nursing program.
    • This is just a setup for more students to fail and for the school to get more money out of us.
    • Doesn't matter

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

I'm starting this thread for students looking to start(ing), and (or) finishing there pre's by spring of 2013 at Broward College. Also for those who are entering (or) looking to enter the Nursing Program in Fall 2013.

We are exactly one year away from this program. So tell me what classes are you taking or have left?

I have Fall Math Intermediate, A&P II lab only, and Computers (need 6 credits to get loans.) Winter College Algebra or Statistics and Chem 1032& Chem lab

Summer Microbiology and Micro Lab.

Yesterday I visted advisement at South, and when I was leaving I got a wake up call that now I will only live, eat, breath nursing school. I never felt this way before. Once me and my advisor went over my Education Plan I started to feel that school going to get harder. Hey I can do this and so can you.

** Let me know your thoughts guys. Until....

Attn: Allnurse StaffCan you hump the forum to the Florida discussion board so we can get more contacts? Thanks.

if anyone could send me a PM with suggestions on teachers...I would be so thankful! I am trying to figure out the teachers for anatomy 1 and chemistry chm1032 plus both labs. I am thinking I will have to just take one right now unless a lot of people dont pay by the deadline ...it seems all the classes are full and the ones left are not worth taking the classes with! I am in S. Broward and closest to south or central...but I am willing to go to any of the campuses. I am registered now all over the place but I think I am going to have to drop the Chm1032. The hours are just not matching up for classes.

(well...nevermind...im not allowed to get PM yet on this forum...:wideyed:)

Just make sure you know what is required and focus on thse courses only. I am not a student at Broward yet, but I do recommend that you go to ratemyprofessor.com for recommendations. That's what have been using since moving to Florida.

@[COLOR=#003366]Juliansmom2011 I think the reason why we don't have alot of responses is because when I created the post (it was) and still is a year in the making. Once we get closer to August "Winter/Spring" term we will get more posters. I'm glad your still hanging in there. As far as the SLS course I don't know the course number and that class applies to those who are entering January 2014 according to the counselor I saw Debbie Martin at South campus and BCC Health Science website.

As for me I just have Chemistry, Mirco and College Algebra left to take. By the way you still have to take Chem via the advisor I saw who is the one that knows more about the Nursing Program she stated that the Chemistry is REQUIRED in order to Micro. In other words. it's not required for the program HOWEVER it is required in order to take Micro. If your still not convinced I suggest you see a counselor, because that is what I would do when I need clarity.

Yes, I am still hanging on there until time allows. As for the sls course, what it stated was as of the August 2013 and beyond it is required...just double check to be sure because I'm going by what's documented. I have A&P2 and micro to take as well, I took Mac 1147 and a couple of chemistry classes in the past so that should cover the math and chem requirement. I plan to take statistics in the near future since it is a bsn requirement as well.

Hi Everyone,

I am applying for the Fall 2013 program. I will be taking Micro in January as the last of my pre-reqs. I have a couple questions if anyone can help:

-Does anyone have the website where the point system is explained that they base admissions off of. If so, could you post it here?

-I understand that Broward residency and HOSA give you extra points. Do you have to be a resident for at least 12 months and/or a member of HOSA for at least 12 months?

Thanks and good luck to everyone.

They have changed their admission requirements; and it is still unpredictable on how they choose their prospects. From my understanding its who has the highest gpa and hesi score; and the hesi can only be taken twice with a 6 month gap before retaking it again. As for the point system, I don't know if that is still a factor anymore although it still shows on the limited application site along with hosa. Best of luck.

Fall semester is almost over! How is everyone doing? As for me, I completed my Final and moving on to the next.

Specializes in Oncology.

Hello everyone,

I'm also applying to BC's nursing program August 2013 and I just wanted to introduce myself!

Good luck everyone!!!
