Broward College August 2012

Hi! This is a thread for anyone applying for August 2012 class at Broward College for the generic nursing track. I deferred my seat so I will be starting in August. I haven't decided if I want to go to central or south yet.. I'm super excited about starting in August! If I could help anyone with anything feel free to ask! :)

yes i did got my certificates through the mail mon. from bc health science dept.

I wish I knew this beforehand I went on campus for all of them. Could have saved on gas. Thanks for sharing.

I didn't get in because they only had 251 seats and 503 applications. Also the minimum GPA they were looking for is 3.5 and mine was 3.2. Another point they made was that points they are looking for are 11-16 and mine was 9.

I am not happy to find out that I worked as hard as I could and didn't get in. I am 41 years old and this has made me realized that some colleges are not prepared for the wave of unemployed workers seeking different careers.

What is the point of letting people forfeit their seats? That lessens the pool for the applicants that really want to attend a specific month. I am discouraged with this college and will try to look elsewhere. I guess not everyone can "finish what they start" at that college.

CEUfast.com seems easier and cheaper to take for the certifications and they are accredited in florida has anyone used this?

I'm in the same boat you're in but I'm even older- 47! I have 9 points, 3.2 gpa and 93.6% on the HESI. I have Microbiology and Statistics and everything from ORganic Chemistry to Physics (not that they look at that)! I was told by someone in admissions that if they hadn't deferred all those seats I would have gotten in! I'm so disappointed. I wish someone would have let us know of this potential situation ahead of time. Good luck to you!

Thanks so much for your support. It is very frustrating that they don't forsee things. I just don't want to keep on putting out money (non refundable) to get a decline.

Also I heard Jan 2013 has different pre-reqs.

Well best of luck to us mature girls.LOL

BTW do you think I should double check my status of not accepted-seat avail again around Jun 15 or should I just say lets try Jan?

Yes thats where i took mine. They are accepted by BC

I would have never known.. never heard of it. But I would definitely agree with the whole cost thing. They all came up to be like $200.

There is still hope for you don't give up. If any aplicants can keep there seat for August due to background check, medical reasons or finiancal reasons they can defer to january which will open up more seats for august.

For those that deffered their seat from May to August, has anyone recieved an email yet? also has your status changed from decsion deffered to pre--admission?
