Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the forum. I checked my status today and it went to "not accepted-avail". I called and spoke with someone in admissions who told me that I had scored high enough to get in (9 Points, 93.6% HESI) but I did not because too many students from the summer session deferred their seats. I am so upset! I have been noticing posts saying they have changed the prerequisites for January. Does anyone know for sure what the new prereqs are? Is it posted on the website for BC yet because I haven't seen or heard anything about it? Do you know if MGF 1202 will be accepted instead of Algebra? Sorry for all the questions but I'm trying to take care of whatever is necessary now so that I can already apply for January.

The last time I spoke with the department they said college algebra, or a college level math such as liberal arts, and microbiology is now a Pre requisite. Before you could take micro after or during, now you need it before.

My status says Pre Admission so I hope that means I am accepted!

The last time I spoke with the department they said college algebra, or a college level math such as liberal arts, and microbiology is now a Pre requisite. Before you could take micro after or during, now you need it before.

Hi, I'm new to this forum and am applying for January. I believe this means those classes can be taken this fall while applying for Jan. I spoke to an adviser less than a month ago who said that it was fine for me to take Micro this fall to apply for January. She was aware of the new requirements and made sure I had the college math. It sounds like as long as those classes are completed upon entering the program, it's ok. Need to clarify that though.

I got the email too. congrats to everyone who was accepted. Looks like I will be submitting my application again next month. I have everything completed for my BSN so hopefully it gives me the boost I need to get in.

If you look at the generic nursing catalog sheet on the Broward site, it shows the new requirements for Jan. Math grade is included in prereq GPA, Chem was removed, and Micro is not in prereq courses and is still considered an additional gen ed course like before. Humanities class and social/behavioral science are under additional courses too.

While micro, a class from the arts and humanities are not a pre-reqs it is advised that you do them before you start the program as you'll need them to register for your final semester in nursing school. They actually asked people without them to defer last time.
