Anyone here applying to Brookhaven's nursing program next month for their Fall 2012 admission?
I am..I need to take the HESI one more time in hopes of getting a higher score. The only support class that I do not have complete is End of Life so I hope with a higher HESI score and a good interview score I will have enough points to get in!
@brookhaven I took dosaging in Nov 2011 it was a little tough. Best advice is get book as early as possible I liked the Prof who taught she was really sweet and seemed to have been thrown in without much to go with. Good luck to all! Hoping the Rumors of a small amount of applicants is true!
I was in that Dosage class too! :) I also agree with you. The instructor was very nice. It was a rough class to get through though. This was mainly because most of us didn't get our books on time due to the bookstore running out and the instructor was thrown into the class at the last minute so it was a bit unorganized as well.
I 2nd your advice about getting the book early. Also to those who have to take it, start working out the problems as soon as you get the book and study the material before hand. You will have to do most of the work at home because there are only a few class meetings. I am horrible at math but the material is not that hard once you learn how to do it. I was able to pass the class with a high A.
End of Life is the only class I am missing.
Patho was dreadful! I took it last semester and it too had a new instructor which was the main issue. The instructor is nice but she was not organized at all, had no clue how to use ecampus to post power points and such, she gave no exam reviews and she spent most of the class time telling stories that caused her to rush through the material. She would often go through the power point slides really fast and say "well...this you can read at home *next slide* this you can read yourself....*next slide* I don't have time to go over that....*
The whole class was always confused on what exactly to study for the exams and the only points in the class are the exams so it's very stressful. I passed with low C and will probably retake the class again when I transfer to UTA for my bachelors.
My husband wasnt impressed with the teacher who taught end of life at brookhaven. He took that class fall 2011, his class started right after we had two deaths in my family, awkward timing!! They watched movies, did some time at at hospice center and wrote lots of papers. (experiences with death, paper about cemetaries, paper on how different religions deal with death). I don't remember much about patho, which could be a good thing. I usually remember the classes he had the hardest time with.
He tested out of the dosage class last summer (i dont think they are offering that anymore)
