Brookhaven Fall 2012

Published

Anyone here applying to Brookhaven's nursing program next month for their Fall 2012 admission?

I am..I need to take the HESI one more time in hopes of getting a higher score. The only support class that I do not have complete is End of Life so I hope with a higher HESI score and a good interview score I will have enough points to get in!

Yup, family is here. And now we wait for Monday

I know I'm kinda sad they didn't send out the results early :( It's going to be a LONG weekend!

My husband and I moved to Dallas 2 years ago from Phoenix. We both have lived in PHX all of our lives too. We do have his father who also lives out here in Dallas too and his younger sister moved out here last year. I try to go back to AZ every 6 months or so to see my mom, sisters and all my nieces and nephews...We are a very close family so it's hard to be away from them.

I like how you apply to nursing school out here in Dallas SO much better than how it is in Phoenix though. There you have to finish all of your pre-reqs and co-reqs before you apply and then sit on a waiting list for 2-3 years (yeah seriously that long). They don't care if one person got all A's on their pre-reqs and another person got all C's on their pre-reqs, it's first come, first served which is why the waiting list is so long now. I like this points situation so much better!

OMG that's crazy! I wouldn't be able to handle that. How is that even a good way to find your best students. 2-3 years you would not be fresh in any of your courses and what the heck are you supposed to do in the meantime?

I guess alot of student who are on the horrid wait list in Arizona get their CNA or PCT certs and work while they wait. It's a great way for them to network within the hospitals too so they can get a nursing job after graduation. I would die if I had to wait that long though!

Hmm...tomorrow we will know guys!! I'm getting excited!

yeah I just got my CNA license, and I am hoping to start a med/surg PCT job soon, so I'll have all the low down for you guys!

in less than 24 hours we should hopefully know!! I'm so ready to just know yes or no! BTW I found my wedding dress lol! I tried on like 7 or 8 and found the one!

I was just about to come here and post "less than 24 more hours!" lol

What kind of dress did you pick out?

Its actually really simple. I'm not lace and satin and fancy. Lol. Its chiffon with a little beading at the top. And a bit of a train. I

Congrats on the dress!! Thats a huge item off of a wedding check list

Good luck to everyone- I am graduating next month from BHC and it has been one heck of a ride! A word of advice- if you don't get in, don't be hard on yourself. Focus on getting into a BSN program, because if you intend to work in DFW, you will need it. My class is having a VERY hard time finding jobs with our ADN, and Brookhaven isn't even allowed at many of the hospitals for clinical now, including Children's! The market is rough right now for the ADN, and though you may not have a hard time in the end, you will almost certainly be required to have a BSN to maintain employment. And for those who do get in to BHC, prepare yourself for disorganization and scheduling nightmares. Otherwise, it's a great program!

@sweetpea, once you get your ADN, how long will it take to get a BSN? Is that what you are doing? Have you found a job yet?
