Brookhaven (DCCCD) Fall 2016

Published

I know I'm a little early, but I'm anxious!!

Missed Spring '16 Deadline by ONE CLASS so I took the semester to get it together.

Anybody else prepping to start the application process in February?

Anybody else know the dates or have been to advising?? Talk to me people !!

Questions are your typical interview questions, "What are your strengths and weaknesses?" "Why do you want to be a nurse?" "Name a time you've failed and how did you overcome it" "Explain a time you faced conflict and how did you handle it?" "What qualities do you possess that you think would make you a good nurse?" Stuff like that. There are mock interviews available to attend at the career center in the S bldg. Have answers ready for those types of questions. It's always good to prepare a question or two for your interview panel, because they usually ask if you have any questions for them at the end. Don't panic. It will be okay, and you'll laugh about it after it's over. We look back and laugh about the things we stressed over as an applicant or even our first couple of weeks of school. It comes with the territory, we (current students) have all been there.

How is the first semester so far? I'm on the fb page, but I feel like it's one of those things where until you're in the throes of it, you won't quite understand.

Good luck to everyone who is doing their interviews today and the days to follow! I have you all in my prayers! I'm preparing for the Spring 2017 program and reading y'all posts has been very inspiring and helpful! Look forward to seeing all of the posts following your interviews and acceptance letters! I can hardly wait to be in your shoes. [emoji4]

Interviews weren't too bad. The judges are so nice. You guys will do great! Good luck!

It's been crazy, fun, stressful and you're right, it's hard to explain until you are in it yourself. Good Luck with your interview. I can't believe we only have like 4 weeks left in first semester and we will be beginning 3rd semester when your class starts. It goes by SO FAST!

So nervous but ready to do this. Less than 10 days until we found out if we got in!

Good luck to those who have interviews today!

Good luck to everyone on their interviews! ! Heather and Britney, it was so nice to meet y'all today! Hope that we get the opportunity to go through this together!

And now we wait! Good luck everyone! Hopefully we find out sooner than next Friday!

So i have 32.99 points but I bombed the interview. Like I did very very horrible on the interview but pretty good on the writing sample. Do y'all think I'll get in?

Why do you think you bombed the interview?

I wasn't fully rested. I answered two questions, the first one I gave a mediocre answer. The second one I just answered with 1 sentence, using no depth at all.

I think with 32.99 you should have plenty to get into the program. Even if someone on the low end (I think I've seen 24 as the lowest interviewing) got full points and you got partial, you'd be ok. I don't know how they score the interviews and writing, but I'd bet full points isn't common. I wouldn't stress too much (easier said than done, though, huh?)
