Brookhaven (DCCCD) Fall 2016

Published

I know I'm a little early, but I'm anxious!!

Missed Spring '16 Deadline by ONE CLASS so I took the semester to get it together.

Anybody else prepping to start the application process in February?

Anybody else know the dates or have been to advising?? Talk to me people !!

I'll see you there! That's what time mine is. Anyone know what kind of questions will be asked?

Yay!! Im so excited and nervous at the same time lol. From what ive gathered we will have two questions a piece that along the lines of "name a time where you have done _____, and why" and of course "why do you want to be a nurse" but every question will be different.

How professional is everyone dressing?

How professional is everyone dressing?

1st semester student here. For our interviews we had typical job interview questions, and some nursing related questions. Most of us wore business professional clothes: slacks/skirt, heels/flats, button up shirt with a blazer and ties for the men. Some men wore suits.

can you give an example of some questions?

can you give some examples of the questions they asked and the writing part?

Questions are your typical interview questions, "What are your strengths and weaknesses?" "Why do you want to be a nurse?" "Name a time you've failed and how did you overcome it" "Explain a time you faced conflict and how did you handle it?" "What qualities do you possess that you think would make you a good nurse?" Stuff like that. There are mock interviews available to attend at the career center in the S bldg. Have answers ready for those types of questions. It's always good to prepare a question or two for your interview panel, because they usually ask if you have any questions for them at the end. Don't panic. It will be okay, and you'll laugh about it after it's over. We look back and laugh about the things we stressed over as an applicant or even our first couple of weeks of school. It comes with the territory, we (current students) have all been there.

Thank you so much!

What exactly is the professional writing sample & is that done after the interview?

What exactly is the professional writing sample & is that done after the interview?

It's done before the interview. You and the people you are interviewing with are asked a question on paper and have to respond to it in writting.

thanks alot for the info! is the writing sample timed and what kind of question do they ask?

To add on to this question, do we type or hand write?

I believe we were allotted 10 minutes for the writing sample (which was hand written). The above listed questions were ones I heard in my interview as well... Sorry I didn't respond earlier, I've had a sick husband and kids this week :yuck:.

I'm going in at 9:30 on Wednesday. Anyone else have that time?
