Hello everybody! It's a little early, but I thought I'd start a thread for the Brookhaven Spring 2015 start date. How's everybody doing? :)
Hello everyone,
I am applying for the upcoming Spring 2015 semester. I am excited and hopeful that I am able to gain admission into the program. I am currently in the dosage calculations module and I am taking the HESI next month! Anyone have any pointers for the HESI? I am diligently trying to get through the DC module so that I can have ample time to study/brush up for the HESI.
Good luck to everyone with everything!! :)
Has anyone else noticed that the application information no longer states that you need to take the critical thinking portion of the HESI? I emailed one of the academic counselors about this and asked the following "1) Is the critical thinking portion of the HESI no longer required for admission to Brookhaven's nursing program?" the reply I got was a simple "YES". HELP!
Hi mlank81011,
I have realized when asking questions to advisors, you have to be very specific. Otherwise they will give you questions such as "YES" without further explanation. I noticed yesterday that critical thinking was no longer listed on the nursing website anymore as well. So, I asked yesterday and got a response from an advisor. So, to answer your question NO CRITICAL THINKING IS NO LONGER REQUIRED.
Hope this helps! :)

Thank you. That means I'm not going to take my retake on Friday. I have a 91.6 on the HESI so it's not worth risking bringing down my score.
Ive heard its alot of conversions. Like cups-pints, ml-grams. Also its alot of fractions, add, subtr, mult, divd them. Its ratios. Know how to turn a fraction into a decimal, vice versa. I made a A in A&P also, but I took it a long time ago. But they say its hardest, because its very random questions and its only 35 questions. Did you get the Hesi A2 book? Also Im doing reading comp and grammer, it seems easy cause we read all the time, were college students. But its not that simple. Ive heard of alot of people not doing so well on that either. Im studying for everything, i dont want to half way study, and not score well on the test, because I dont want to take the test again. I got the GED prep book, for reading and comp, ive read that it helps also.

Hi Mamatwinx,
I am currently taking Dosage Calculations. I just enrolled in the module yesterday, 07/01/2014. There are about 15 modules within the module. The flow is very beneficial. You go through the information first, followed by a test for each of the 15 modules. Seems relatively easy, just time consuming. Only thing that is a little frustrating is that at certain points the book and online module contradict. Other than that I haven't had any issues. Hopefully I can get through it and obtain a score of 90 or better!
Hope this helps! :)
