Nursing Students School Programs

Thought I'd start a forum for those who are applying for Brookhaven's ADN program Fall 2018. Has anyone started on these particular things? --->

-prerequisites

-HESI A2

-online nursing information session

-critical thinking exam

-dosage calculations class

I look forward to talking to those who are going to be applying. Hope to hear from you soon!!!

Yes me too I really can not afford to sit out another semester. I need to start in the Fall 2018 class. 35 seemed to be enough last semester to at least get an interview. I just want to make sure I get an interview and I get in this time. I don't just want to slide by with enough for just an interview and then become an alternate. Hopefully we will be classmates in the Fall. They accept more so I hopefully that will help us out a little.

@acraw007 how did you study for the hesi a2. I was going to apply for the spring 2018 thinking I was fine for the hesi but I took it for the first time and made a 76. I had high Bs on both math and reading. What killed me is the vocab and A&P 2. What do you recomend studying? I have the book review that you buy at brookhaven bookstore. I have 24 points right now and hoping to get at least 12 points on the Hesi.

I know me personally I used a app I have HESI A2. I did the test it had on it daily for the vocab, math and grammar as well as A&P. you can also go under your account on evolve and it will tell you where in each subject you test low and it will give you documents connected to it that will help you study. I also study the book as well and for A&P I listened to you tube videos about each system and took notes. I am doing that again because I am not sure if I am going to retest or not yet. I am going to take my critical thinking over and see how good I can do on that.

Can you retake critical and pick the highest if you don't do good? Or is it like the hesi where it's the last score you get is what they use?

I think you're only allowed to take the Critical thinking exam once per application period.

I'm taking the HESI A2 in a week+ from now. Hopefully will get a good score. I have the HESI app too. Super helpful if you're always on the go.

I used the HESI study book by Elsevier. I think I got it from amazon. I focused on math and the science portions because that's what I usually struggle with. I also used some flash cards that were free online. I found the book to be very helpful.

So I currently have a total of 36.69 points. I'm a little bit worried on the scoring system, since it seems like there are several people with similar scores as me. I am taking Pharmacology and Philosophy, but have every other pre-req completed outside of those two classes. Hopefully it will be enough to get me an interview. If not, then I guess I will have to wait until Spring next year and add the points for Pharm and Phil. I really would like to not retake the HESI (91.6) or any of my classes that I got a B in... I wouldn't mind retaking the Critical Thinking Exam, as it was poorly written and some of the questions didn't align with the answers.. kind of pathetic test for something that actually considers you for the nursing program. I got a 72 on that exam. I also did the dosage calc class with a 91. My GPA for the pre-reqs is 3.29, so I could definitely retake a few of those classes and improve on my grade.. I just really don't want to. One thing I am told most people get disqualified for is the shots/immunization records. So make sure you guys have all the series shots taken care of!! Good luck to everyone, and I hope to be in class with you guys!

So... today is the day. Good luck everyone!

What's going on today am I missing something?

Totally lost as well. Lol

Having a mini panic attack because I thought packets will not be accepted until the 16th? Right???

I'm also lost? What's today? I am taking my hesi?

Good luck with your HESI! I took mine yesterday.
