Thought I'd start a forum for those who are applying for Brookhaven's ADN program Fall 2018. Has anyone started on these particular things? --->
-prerequisites
-online nursing information session
-critical thinking exam
-dosage calculations class
I look forward to talking to those who are going to be applying. Hope to hear from you soon!!!
You will each get two questions. It's a lot like a typical job interview. Why do you want to be a nurse? A time when you have given someone great service, a time when you had to deal with a difficult situation or person, etc. My best advice is to just breathe and have fun, talk with your interview group and get the nerves out. The instructors know you are nervous, but smile and acknowledge what everyone has to say and look them in the eye. Also have a question or two to ask them.
Hello everyone! Congrats on getting an interview! I'm a second semester student. Normally the fall takes 60 people but with the issues with El Centro this semester they are taking around 80. So it looks like 82 have interviews and if the past trends continue everyone who has received an email for an interview should have a great chance at being accepted. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!
How did you find out they are taking more possibly 80? I asked if they would be taking more when they extended the application period and they said no they would accept the same amount.
Hi everyone. First time posting. Got an email invitation for interview on Monday at 11am! So excited. Has anyone made it to the interview proccess before in a previous application attempt? If so, any advice on what to expect or pointers? Congrats to all of you that made it to the next round!

How many points did you apply with?
I would call them, they did not have alot available. I called yesterday the 19th and they squeezed me in this morning at 8am. They did have one available mon 23rd sat 9am. I got in touch with a girl who got in to the program a few last year and she gave me some pointers. That coupled with the mock interview and I feel way more confident now.
The career center mock interview told me in addition to comments about my responses that to also use the STAR interview response technique and google that and look for the result that is on thebalancecareers.com, it will be one of the first to pop up in search results. That is the format for the interview and most of the sample questions on that website are also questions they ask during interview they just edit them to fit for nursing situations. Its a really great site.
What are everyone's point rankings if you dont mind me asking?
How to Use the STAR Interview Response Technique
^^ thats the link for the website the mock interviewer told me to use to prepare.
Hope this helps!
34.1. I fully expected to not get invited for interview. Im finishing a couple support courses this semester so I figured I would apply in the fall for spring 2019 with 42ish points, 43 if im lucky, but I figured why not, just submit application this time because ya never know...and I guess that worked out? lol Im scrambling now, I was not preparing at all.
How many did you apply with?

I also have my interview at 11 on Monday. I also scheduled a mock interview with Brookhaven for this Friday at 8AM. From past students they said it is very helpful. Goodluck to everyone! Now im off to practice mock interviews. But yes, anyone who has done the interview, what kind of questions do they ask? nursing based interviews or like a job interview questions? This is my first interview notice i receive.
