Bristol Community College Nursing

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Published

Hello,

I wanted to know of anyone looking into the Bristol Community College nursing program or who is currently in it or was in it.

I am still taking the competitive pre-req courses right now to be able to apply to the Fall 2011 nursing program for Bristol Community College in Massachusetts. I currently have a 4.0 GPA.

After this semester, I just need to take A&P II (summer class) and Microbiology (Fall class). After that, all of the courses I need for the nursing program are complete except for the actual nursing classes.

If I get accepted into the BCC program for the Fall 2011 class, will I only be able to take 1 nursing class/semester so it's an additional two years from Fall 2011?

Thanks for your input!

I too am waiting for all the same schools. What kind of grades do you have?

I have a lotttttt of credits so my GPA is a little lower than most. I have only a 3.47 because I did dual enrollment back in high school resulting in some C's but I got an A- in AP1 B+ in AP 2 and I am currently taking Micro, which I actually really like. I am hoping to have a better GPA after this semester. I did well on my teas I got an 85. Then guidance told me that BCC especially doesn't take into account the grade you got on it, just as long as you passed it. So, I am hoping that my essay pushed me forward in the other schools. I work in the ER of a local hospital. I am hoping my experience will help me out a little. I really really wish I could go to BCC, but I now how competitive it is. That is why I planned a lot of back ups. How about you?

No, not good news but maybe it is. Im in class with some nurses and they say its hell in that program. Maybe a blessing in diguise for me.

I also have the same GPA. lol I too am taking Micro with Dr. V. I work as a Surgical Tech now. Im hoping to go anywhere at this point. I also applied to Quincy.

I almost took his sat class I was registered but I ended up taking true..this is so frustrating I was looking into quincy but it is quite a drive brockton alone with traffic will take me over an hour did you apply to brockton hospital? if so we are hearing the 15th :) still upset about bcc though I can't wasting semesters maybe a miracle will happen and the degreet works is a fluke

I applied to Brockton but they said I needed to take my High school Biology class over. I refuse! Im done taking extra courses after this semester. If I dont get into BCC it just wasnt meant to be. Who did you take for AP1 and 2?

I hear you I have everything done as far as pre reqs and co reqsplus about 100 other classes if I dont get in I'm gonna head to ric and do pre reqs there and re apply everywhere next year...i dont think you shouldgive up right away though it takes a few yearsand with your experience you seem like you would be an excellent nurse an nd i took mcguire at the new bedford campus for both he was such an awesome guy I recommend him to everyone

Has anyone tried CCRI? I applied there as well as BCC this year. They require 2 additional classes (Intro to Health and Dosage and Calc), but otherwise, everything is the same as BCC. There's no wait list there and they have 4 or 5 different campuses offering the nursing program (Providence, Warwick, Newport, Lincoln and 1 other.. i forget where). They start in the fall AND spring unlike BCC which only starts in the fall. NETech is another place that just started a nursing program. They're expensive, but I believe they start 3 or 4 times a year (I believe it's every 3-4 months they have new classes starting). Also, both places have less travel time/traffic from Fall River than Quincy or the Cape.

I checked Degree Works again and my last audit was 3/7/11 as well. Good luck, everyone!!!

wow I'm happy I found this thread with so many people from around where I live! I haven't tried ccri because of the extra classes if anything I'll go finish the pre reqs at ric and go for my BA and neit is very expensive and I'm hesitant about such a new program...I'm hoping my l ack of audit is a good sign haha I feel I have a better chance at massasoit because of the essay but I'm still freaking out

For those of you whose audit didn't change what does it say under your major? I am not getting my hopes high until I get a letter saying whether I got in or not. This DW could be a fluke. I hope we all get in. We are all in the same boat...sick of being in limbo. We just want to get in somewhere..it's so frustrating..taking different classes so that you can have a back up and then the wait to see if you're in..:(( I hate this.

I have not given up but I am a person that just moves on. Not fretting. I have a very good chance to get into Quincy and that is where I went for Surgical Technology. Im used to the big hospitals and things. Just need to have an answer for somewhere. Lots of people on here. This is nice!

it says general studies health science which was my original program
