Hi. I am new here. I don't know exactly where to go. I am a registered nurse here in the Philippines and I am interested in studying in Australia for a bridging course that will help me become a registered nurse there. I need some help on looking for a good school that offers a bridging course.
My aunt told me that a friend of her friend just went to AU to take up a test and in 6 months she's there for a bridging program. and I have this friend who has a friend who became a registered nurse in AU in 6 months time too. This agency is offering me to study for a certificate III aged care with occupational English test for 46 weeks in Einstein College but it costs too much. So now, I am trying to look for a school wherein I can apply by myself and hopefully get in. I am hoping I could leave for AU this June 2011. I am a bit lost on what to do. Can you help me, please? Any suggestions? ? Please help me. Thank you very much.
(Sydney area would be better since my parents are more familiar and in favor of that place... though other cities/areas will be great too)
Hi! I'm new here. I'm a RN in the PH with 3years working experience and is planning to go to Australia next year. However, i'm torn between the BP and taking up a 2-yr undergrad course in nursing. I'm done with all the other requirements including IELTS and most of my relatives live in Aus. I have 3 uncles who has been living there for more than 30 yrs and will be the ones to sponsor my studies and other expenses. They told me that earning a bachelor degree (2 to 3 yrs) would have more benefits than pushing through with BP especially in finding a job and processing PR. But I find it a bit too long. Despite not having to worry about expenses, still I would like to at least save time and effort. So I have some questions about BP:
1. After finishing the program and say I passed and applied for registration, am I automatically a AuRN? What I mean is, I will be registered as a professional AU nurse and will be on the same level with those who earned a bachelor's degree in nursing and not as an enrolled nurse? (Cause this nurse levels confuse me)
2. After becoming an AuRN, and find a work/ get employed right away and get a working visa, can I apply for PR already, if not, how long do I have to practice my profession and stay in Australia before i can file for one?
Thank you in advance!
Hi!
REgarding your query,
It is up to AHPRA to decide whether you have to undergo the BP or a 2 yr bachelor course. But in your case, it is most likely that you only need to undergo the BP since you have 3 years of full time RN experience and you have passed the English exam.
Once you passed the BP you have to seek registration to AHPRA. By then, there are various pathways you need to decide to when you become a AURN, i would like to specify 2 of the many.
1. Working visa - once you get a license, you can find an employer who sponsors this visa
2. PR Visa - this process is quite a lengthy one as you have to undergo another set of phases. but I believe this is more fulfilling and actually gives you a bittersweet ending. You can apply to any employer you wish, as not all employers sponsors a working visa, and even though a certain employer sponsors, they still prioritize those who have a PR visa. You can have dual jobs if you can.
However, others chose the working visa pathway, and subsequently while working, process their PR visa. The choice is yours actually.
PR visa is a points test visa. If you get at least 60 points, you are eligible to express your interest to migrate to Australia. Look it up so you will know where you're at. Cheers!
Hi anyone have experience with this:
I am a permanent resident of Australia, my Husband and I got it as I was his dependent when he was sponsored by S.A.
I am a non practicing R.N of the Philippines and now thinking of getting accredited in Australia as an RN after more than 6 years of inactivity (although still registered).
Can I get some scenarios of what could happen, or if anyone has had experience with a similar situation.
Overseas qualified permanent residents can study bridging programs related to their overseas qualification and use "FEE-HELP" which is a study-now-pay-
later scheme, hence why this caught my interest.
Hi, everyone. I am waiting for taking IRON course next year.
Just got an offer letter from deakin.
I have a question about new grad program.
After bridging program, even I don't have any working experience in Australia, is it impossible to apply for new grad program?
If so, without new grad program, isn't it hard to apply jobs or understand hospital system in Australia?
Thanks in advance.
Best wishes for everyone.
@IndAusNurse - I am not sure if you are just trying to fish out information but here it is:
The gist of my question was "can non-practicing overseas registered nurses be accepted for a bridging program?"...
Thanks
