U.S.A. Connecticut

I have so many questions about Bridgeport School of Nursing Questions because their website has not enough information for me. PPlease help!.........

Is their any current BHSN students?

If so what was you TEAS score? Any advice for studying for the test?

When did you get your acceptance letter?

How are classes going?

What is the schedule for the Day program?

What are the uniforms like?

My TEAS score was 86. I am attending now. Day Program is 8:30 to 3:30 on Tuesday and then you have lab for 2-3 hours one day and clinical at the hospital for 2-3 hours another day. The uniform is white pants and marroon top (Scrubs). When you submit your application make sure everything is in because it will delay the response if you don't. Buy the TEAS practice book at ATI testing.

So class is only on Tuesdays???

Lecture is Tuesday.

Lab is Thursday and clinical is Friday

You can do those in the evening program, but day and evening students must attend lecture.

Hi!

I currently am in Level 1 and so far I love the program, however, you do have to put alot of work into the program. So far it goes like this, tuesdays are the lectures day which usually run from 8:30-4 and then depending on your lab group you will have lab on wednesday or thursday for a few hours and then your clinical (working in the hospital) will be on thursday or friday from 8-2. Im not quite sure about the evening program, but I know the hours are very similar, just they are after 5pm.

Now, the readings for lab are very extensive, but it does help to read because though the lectures are long, there is alot of information to cram into these hours; the reading does help reinforce the info for the tests.

As far as acceptance, I found out in late January and then you slowly start to receive orientation information around may. Also, I did get an 84% on my teas, but I know alot of people that got lower and higher, BHSN does really look at EVERYTHING, not just your teas.

And finally, the uniforms are white pants, which you can buy anywhere or through the school, the top is maroon with BHSN enscribed, and we have to wear white shoes with no holes in them( i.e crocs with holes).

Umm, thats about it I think? :specs: If you have any other questions I'd love to help, but right now I have to go do a tonnnnn of math calculations for class lol

Thank u christine for all ur help. My friends and I were talking and we are so scared how hard BHSN is going to be and just wanna pass! Can you please explain how difficult BHSN is? Is it harder than AP 1 and 2? thank u very much

Dylan,

Its not so much that it's harder than a&p, its just a totally different thing. Alot of stuff from a&p is obviously necessary for nursing, but studying is totally different.

Homework for class more so involves extensive reading and practicing nclex style questions. Its not so much memorization and vocab, though that is important to know for your clinical, its more so applying what you know to different situations.

So yes, as long as you devote a lot of time, and have a passion for learning nursing, I would say that you shouldn't have a problem. Like I said its just a lot of reading and research for your clinical experiences weekly.

BHSN does really look at EVERYTHING, not just your teas.

As well as the photo they demand on the application which is illegal b/c of discrimination.

All this information is so helpful! I'm glad I found this thread, I have been looking for more information on BHSN for a while now. I just got a TEAS score of 84, and I am on the edge of my seat waiting to hear about whether I've been accepted. Any more information would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a certain score requirement for the individual sections of the TEAS exam? The reason why I ask is because I just took the exam today and scored an 83.5% overall. However, I tanked on the Math section with a 66.7% (40% on ratios / 50% on conversions) because I didn't finish the section in time. I still had about 10 to 12 questions to go and didn't notice that the time had run out. I scored in the mid-80s in both Science and English sections and had a 97.5% in reading, which really helped to pull up my overall score.

Do you think my math score may cause a problem?? I am so bummed. I don't think I will be able to take it again since it is already the end of January and I've heard there is a 45 day wait period between retakes. Does BHSN even allow retakes?

Hi Ladybug-

I don't know if there is a minimum required grade per each section. I did pretty poorly on the Science section, but got an 84 overall. I'd imagine you are not allowed to fail any of the sections. I'm so anxious to hear back. But don't be bummed, I've heard of people getting in with a TEAS as low as 81, I think it really depends on everything - your GPA, references, etc. As far as a retake, you should contact BHSN Admissions and ask them. They hold a TEAS exam on their campus in late February - call and see if you can be admitted for that one! If you take that, you are still eligible for Fall 2010 admission.

Hope that helps, and hope to see you in the Fall!
