Bridgeport School of Nursing Questions

Published

I have so many questions about Bridgeport School of Nursing Questions because their website has not enough information for me. PPlease help!.........

Is their any current BHSN students?

If so what was you TEAS score? Any advice for studying for the test?

When did you get your acceptance letter?

How are classes going?

What is the schedule for the Day program?

What are the uniforms like?

Hi Sara, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it is enough. I called the school today and they told me that I could retake it but that I have to wait 45 days. Hopefully the 45 day period will arrive before the final deadline. I was told that a deadline hasn't been set yet for the TEAS scores. She said I will be notified of a date when I receive the package that indicates the testing requirements. I know that if I am able to retake it and I finish the entire Math section in time, my score should increase considerably. May I ask what your science score was?? Was it about the same as my math score?? I will try to remain optimistic. It's really hard not to worry though, as BHSN is my first choice of school. I'll try to avoid developing an ulcer until the start of program. Lol! I really hope to see you in the Fall as well!!! Good luck to you! Maybe the fact that I already have a B.S. degree in Finance will help them to overlook the math score. One can hope! I'll keep you updated on my status and I would really love it if you did as well. It is nice to know someone who may potentially be in the same program. Please feel free to send me a PM. :)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed too! I'm so anxious to hear back, I can hardly stand it. I've heard only great things about the program. I'm at work and don't know my TEAS science score offhand, but I'm pretty sure it was in the very low 70s, if not the high 60s. So, I'm worried too. I hope you are able to retake it before they review all your admissions stuff. I'm excited that we've come across eachother on here. I wanna have as many friends in the program as possible, as I think that will make it less stressful and more bearable to get through! Definitely let me know how things go, and if you get any additional info about the program or talk to anyone who is hoping to start in the Fall, too. Have you looked into any Accelerated BSN programs, since you already hold a bachelors degree?

Sarah,

I have looked into the accelerated degrees, particularly the one at Fairfield University since my undergrad degree is from there. I was told that I could start the program as a part time student in the Fall until I caught up to the accelerated students (didn't have all the prerequisites completed by the application deadline). However, the cost is astronomical at $50k. So, I figure the best route, from a financial perspective, would be BHSN or one of the CC's. I know I won't be able to get a master's unless I take a bridge program, but I figure that most hospitals will pay for that. I think my main priority is just to be able to sit for the NCLEX at the cheapest cost, considering I already have a considerable amount of loans from my original undergrad.

I will definitely keep you posted on any further information I receive from the school. Do you know how long it takes to receive the program package once you've submitted your application? I just mailed mine out earlier this week. I didn't realize that we didn't need to have all the application materials completed before Feb 1st, so I delayed sending in the application until I had everything together.

I thought that BSHN received about 600 apps per year but when I spoke to them the other day they said they had about 400 to 500. I am a little more optimistic knowing that we have a 20% to 25% chance.

Did you happen to apply to the CC's as well?

Does anyone know if BHSN allows students to use voice recorders during the lectures?? I've heard of some programs prohibiting them for confidentiality reasons.

...and what about PDAs/ smart phones for clinical? Are they alloweda t BHSN? I talked to a nurse the other day who recommended I get one for nursing school, but I want to make sure I can use it first!

Just to let everyone know, I inquired from BHSN about the use of voice recorders. I was told that they are acceptable! Just thought that I share the info.

Anthro- I am hoping we can use PDA's. I have an iphone that currently has Tabers software on it. I am hoping to be able to use it. It does have an airline feature on it that shuts off the use of the phone so that it doesn't transmit any signals. I hope that if I can show that it is indeed inactivated as a phone that they will allow me to use it for reference purposes. Please let me know if you decide to inquire about this. I'm quite curious.
