Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing?

U.S.A. Connecticut

Does anyone go there, do you like it? Is there a wait list? Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :)

Bridgeport hospital has a wonderful program. I had some friends who graduated from there. The only reason I did not apply was because the program is partial evening and day. I cannot afford to quit my job. So I decided to go to St Vincents instead because they have an evening program.

I attended one of BHSON's Information Sessions last year and the woman giving the presentation told us about the contracts. Basically, you are offered a contract from either Bridgeport Hospital or Yale New Haven Hospital (they are affliated). You have to work (full-time, I believe) for them 2 years after graduation. The woman said, if admitted into the program, students would recieve contract offers within a couple of months after letters were mailed out. I was also thinking about deferring admissions to 9/2007. I have all of the course done except for A&P II and Microbio, but I'm taking Micro over the summer. However, I live all the way in Tolland, CT, more than an hour away. I wouldn't be able to move down there until next year and I'm not sure that commuting 2 hrs a day is going to be much fun at all. :uhoh21: Melanie

hi, i was reading about the bridgeport program and came across your post stating you went to st vincents, how is that program? is it all nights? how long is it ? about how many people in the program ? thank you -:spin

St Vincents College has a full time program and a part time program. The part time is Tuesday evening from 5pm-9pm, Thursday 7-9pm lab and Saturday from 8am-3pm or 8:30-3:30pm. I work Monday-Friday 7:30am-3:30 pm, so the schedule is perfect for me. If Bridgeport Hospital had an all evening program instead of partial evening, I would have definately apply because it is less expensive. The good thing, St Vincents offered me a $4000 scholarship each year, I applied, I hope I get it. Even if I dont, I plan to work for a hospital that will pay my students loans when I graduate. It is worth the money. Good luck

thank you for the info on the St Vincents Program. I am going to attend their open house in May to learn more. I think I may apply there also. The night program is a plus.

You may have misunderstood Bridgeports program. You can chhose evening, but I believe that is only for the first half of the year. They do not require you to go partial evening AND day..those are just options.Hope that was helpful.

oops, I actually mis understood you, St. Vincents has a full evening program....sorry.

If Bridgeport Hospital was full evening, I would have gone there instead because it is less expensive. I am happy at St Vincents so far.
