Bridgeport hospital school of nursing fall 2015

Published

I'm looking for anyone who is applying to this school this year. Please let us know when you applied and any progress you make to getting accepted. Good luck to everyone!

I applied in early Dec. and decided to to retake the TEAS test before sending it for review. Form what I understand it takes anywhere from 2 weeks - 2 months to get accepted or not. Past experience has said more like the 2 months is the norm. I should be getting my results from the TEAS test today and it will be promptly moved to review next week (1/19/15). I will confirm the date when it actually gets sent.

I will update any progress as I get it.

I'd also like to be included in the FB group! But about the RN vs. BSN dilemma, there are ALOT of hospitals who will ask that if you work there within a certain time frame you obtain your BSN. However, this doesn't mean we won't be able to get jobs! My brother, and 3 cousins all got their Bachelors and then after graduation went to BHSN. So none of them have their BSN but they are were able to get jobs right away. Some of my cousins are now trying to obtain their BSN but I think as long as you have experience and are planning to go back, you won't really suffer finding a job :)

Exactly. I think we concluded that the critical care units will require BSNs immediately. :)

I sent you a message, KD!

Thank you for your response and clarification. I, too, have several diploma nurses on my unit; however, the administration team in my hospital are really pushing the immediate enrollment of a BSN program prior to hiring. Now that you mentioned it, the push could be that I work in a critical care unit. Makes sense.

I remember hearing in a staff meeting that a candidate was sent home from an interview because she did not have proof of being enrolled in a BSN program! How embarrassing.

and here it is...(something new I've not seen in any of their postings in the last year...--->EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing. Those with a Diploma or Associate's Degree need to show evidence that they are actively enrolled in a BSN or MSN program.

Bridgeport Hospital is posting this for the New Grad Nurse positions:NEW GRADUATE NURSE

Qualifications

EDUCATION: BSN or RN enrolled in a BSN/MSN Program.

Think it best to enroll in a BSN program as soon as you can.

My orientation is now july 1.

I am having trouble finding the FB group.

Why did your date change?

I had to reschedule because of work constraints.

Hello I am new to this and your post caught my attention. I got into this school and recently found out I got into Norwalk commujity college. Now I am torn between the two and have to make a quick desicion. I already have an associates in general studies and done all the pre reqs for nursing at both schools. The only thing I have to focus on is the nursing classes. I need to figure out what's one step closer for me to get my bsn with these two schools. I also have heard that no hospitals will hire nurses with only associates degree. I want to know what will look better on my resume: bridgeport or Norwalk

I also got into Norwalk community college nursing program. I live in stamford so you think I might as well stay there compared to having to go down to bridgeport? I'm confused

Hi all my names Alissa Grey! I just found this group! I will be attending BHSN in the fall and I can't wait! Can I be added to the Facebook group please? :-)

Hi! I had the same dilemma. I chose BHSN because I live in Milford so it was a much easier commute for me, but I've heard NCC has a brand new nursing building that's probably pretty sweet. As for your resume, I can't really speak on that because I don't know what would necessarily look better, but if you plan on continuing your education (getting a BSN or MSN) I wouldn't really worry about it. The good thing about the Connecticut Community College Nursing Program is that after you pass your NCLEX you automatically get accepted into a list of schools to continue on to your BSN or MSN so you don't have to worry so much about getting accepted into the next program or whether or not your credits will transfer. Hope this helps! :-)
