Bridgeport Hosp School of Nursing Acceptance anyone???

Published

Hi All you current and future nurses out there.

I am awaiting a decision from Bridgeport Hospital school of nursing and I was just wondering if anyone has received an acceptance from them yet. If so please share. Thanks.

Well as you know, Im still waiting also.... anxiously! Hopefully we hear something soon. I guess we are the only two on this forum that applied to the school. I will post as soon as I find out.

Good luck to both of you.

Good luck to both of you! I go there now and I really like it. The instructors are very helpful and they all seem to want you to succeed. It is tough and a lot of work. Even with that I enjoy it.

Again, best of luck

Thanks for the reply. I was beginning to think that myself and 2bNureKenia were the only ones interested in this school. (Well not really because we would have heard by now.) :coollook: I am really hoping to get into BHSN. I have heard such great things about this school and the instructors. And while I was getting thru the application process I called several times to ask different questions and each time I was received with such kindness. I can't say the same for other schools which shall remain nameless. But it was so nice to always be able to count on a friendly voice on the other end. I can only imagine that the instructors are just as accommodating.

Funny thing is, I bet we get out letters on the very same day. My mail lady is going to have me arrested because I am seriously stalking her.

Just curious, when did you submit your application?

I must comment about what a previous poster stated about how they are talked to when calling for information from other Nursing Schools in the area. This person stated "the other school(s) shall remain nameless".

Well, firstly there are certainly "other" great schools to obtain your Associates Degree in Nursing. BHSN is not the only school one would get friendly information from. If you take great amounts of time to do your research and go to information sessions as well as Open Houses you will be given a wealth of information and will know what that particular program entails. If you need to ask any additional questions, you will be talked to very professionally and courteously. I must tell you that I've talked a great deal of times w/many of the staff members at St. Vincent's College and applaud them immensely. I have always had all of my questions answered very comprehensively and consisely. The Admissions staff are assets to the St. Vincent's program. They tell you you everything truthfully and extremely professionally. If anyone has had a problem with getting information, I suggest going to an information session fully prepared to ask all types of questions. I myself probably attended 4 or 5 information sessions and knew everything about the program that I really didn't need to call the College much.

It is very unfair to single out the "other" schools because each school has its advantages and disadvantages. I know of 2 current students at St. Vincent's and they both say the world about the program and I trust every word that they have said. The ADN Program at St. Vincent's is excellent and I challenge anyone to say anything different. Both students are coming from other careers so they are much like myself and know a great college when exposed to one. For me, Nursing will be my second degree and career. I wouldn't even think about applying anywhere else, and hope to educate others who may be hearing negative, untrue information about St. Vincent's College. I also want to applaud Norwalk's Nursing Program which is also excellent. I would certainly consider Norwalk if they had a part-time program. You will not find another Associates Degree Nursing Program other than St. Vincent's that you can attend totally on a part-time schedule. It is worth taking an extra year to complete your Nursing courses and be extremely confident rather than taking the quick route.

Best of luck to all.

Wow!!! I am not sure if I mentioned anything about St Vincent's when in fact, I did not. As a matter of fact assumptions can spoil everyone's day. You ASSUME most incorrectly that I may have been speaking about that school and I was not. In addition my experience is obviously not the same as yours. Also in addition I too am getting into nursing for a second degree. I have a BA in psychology and am fully aware of the information session process and have engaged every school that I have applied to in this way. It is not negative for me to say that there are some schools out there that were less courteous than others in their delivery of information. Some administrators are going to be more friendly despite hectic schedules and numerous hopefuls asking of them the same questions day in and day out. Lastly, I have spoken to several current and expecting students whom have had similar experiences with schools that I was speaking of. I didn't want to taint anyone's perception of those schools and that is why I did not name them. If you want to applaud a school then do so without trying to "call someone out" for their observation of a situation that was not as stellar as another.

Oh yeah I also meant to say to Susan that you obviously looooooove St. Vincents. Something that you saw or heard while previewing the school made you admire that program as much as I admire BHSN.

Good luck in your nursing endeavors.

I apologize for upsetting you. Can't we put credit where credit is due today? I understand your perceptions of BHSN and you have every right to commend them. That is your choice. BHSN does have good points, and as I did mention every school has its advantages as well as disadvantages. My choice is to commend St. Vincent's College and also Norwalk CC as well. I speak for many students and employees past and present who feel the same. And yes, there will be times that administration can be stressed and may not be as friendly as one would like but that is life. What I am trying to get across is the fact that there is more than one great Nursing School in Bridgeport. And, yes my support does go wholeheartedly with St. Vincent's College as well as with Norwalk CC. Certainly I know that many people will applaud for BHSN. Let's just all get on with our studies and go our chosen paths to whatever school is the best for she or he. Wishing you a fulfilling Nursing Education.

Hey Susan,

You are correct. Sorry if I came off as upset. It made me laugh to see you defending St. Vincents the way you were. I applaud Norwalk as well. To everyone reading this post, BHSN is still the best. LOL!!!
