Larry Elder lost because most people don't want the 1960's to be recreated to the Repub's tastes. He didn't just survive, it was a rout, a drubbing, a landslide however you want to put it. You didn't see that point emphasized very much, because the bored political wing of the mainstream media decided it was going to be a close call due to people supposedly angry about restrictions on businesses and mask mandates.
He defeated his GOP opponent in 2018 with 61.9% vs 38.1.
He defeated the herd of opponents on the recall question with 63% answering "NO".
Just as an aside though, the minute Larry Elder jumped in our local media all but ignored Caitlyn Jenner and other bona fide Republican candidates. I thought it was very unfair.
