I have been working in the NO area for 5 years now. I live near BR and I am sick and tired of the drive. I've stayed here so long because of the pay. I want to change, but I'm afraid that my salary will be much less. Can anyone give me any information on hourly rates and diffs in the Baton Rouge area? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know myself, as I work in NOLA as well... but I'm curious too. Can you call some area hospitals and ask what their hourly rates are? They might not tell you but it doesn't hurt to ask.
When I was in BR after Katrina, agency was offering 34/hr for ICU at various places, which is in line with NOLA... but again I don't know if that was just a hurricane thing or if it still stands.
What I DO know is it's hard to beat the rates down here. I feel for you on the drive... Good luck!

I can't tell you how it will pay with experience.... but you are definitely looking at a serious pay reduction.... new grad in br are paid average 18/hr... new grads in nola are paid average 22/hr....

It may be a little higher than that now. Two years ago I started working at BRGH- Bluebonnet (awesome hospital) and they started me at $17/hr... so it has to be more now...right??

I work in Baton Rouge and the average pay for LPN's is about 18 to 20/hour. Good luck!
