  1. Hi all! I'm contemplating an assignment in Cali. Silicon Valley area. My children and my mom travel with me. So of course I'm looking for bigger housing. My travel company says for a 4 bedroom house I'm looking at $2500/mo. Does this sound right to you guys? Also, any info on PAY RATES would be wonderful. Always important to get my research done first! Thanks! :thankya::thankya:

I've been in Colorado for 3 assignments now. Wanted to start traveling. I find that here in Colorado, I'm not making much more than back home. Now I realize that I'm not supposed to be making a crazy amount of money. I mean, it's really all about the experience. Right? But....I've been told that Colorado is not the state to make some green. So, I want to hear from the more experienced travelers. Where should I be if I want to make that green?
  3. I'm just starting to look into traveling and some of these hospitals want 3 years experience. I know that the shortest amount of time is 1 year, but it all depends on what the hospital wants. The travel companies will try to place you somewhere with 1 year. To tell you the truth, unless you are totally comfortable with your nursing skills after 1 year, you probably should wait a bit to travel. I have 5 years under my belt and I know that I'm still going to have issues....I'm sure everyone does. But if you are determined, do it. I'm sure that new nurses have to learn very fast when traveling. I'm still amazed at the opportunities that we have as nurses. Good luck to you.
  4. 50 miles is the distance for per diem. So you should be okay.
  5. Thanks so much for the feedback. I'm just trying to find the best rate possible. There is so much to learn and each company figures the rate, housing and taxes differently. Any more suggestions are appreciated. Thanks all.
  6. Hi all. I'm going to be first time traveler very soon. My family and I are trying to make it to the Northwest. I have applied to different companies, and I've been trying to research. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed so it is taking me some time to figure all of this out. Since I will be traveling with my family, we are going to need a 3 bedroom rental. The best rate that I've gotten with my rental and family insurance paid is 30/hr. Does this sound fair? I keep reading all these posts where some nurses are making into the high 30's and even 40's. Just wanted to get some information from seasoned travelers. Thanks.
  7. I have been working in the NO area for 5 years now. I live near BR and I am sick and tired of the drive. I've stayed here so long because of the pay. I want to change, but I'm afraid that my salary will be much less. Can anyone give me any information on hourly rates and diffs in the Baton Rouge area? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
  8. I am a RN working in the US. I am just beginning to look into the comparison of pay and cost of living. If I moved to the UK, can I expect to make more or less? Can anyone give me any information on this? Also, is the shortage of nurses in the UK comparable to the shortage we have here. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
