:confused:i'm trying to revise our institution's policy for bowel management in the cardiothoracic icu setting. what i would like is for people to share the policy at their institution and then i will do a lit search to support any recommendations. what does your institution consider good bowel management after surger?
any help is greatly appreciated! thanks in advance:confused:

I am not positive on the policy as I just started cardio ICU today. From what I understand if the pt has not had a BM in a 24 48 hr at the most span of time we give colace in the am if nothing by pm another dose of colace followed by a suppository.
