Hi, is there anybody out there currently working for the Boston va system?
I'm wanting to transfer over into the Boston va system (I'm in Seattle right now) in the next few years but they never seem to be hiring. Is the retention over there that good?

Hi,
I don't know anything about the retention, but just keep in mind Boston is saturated with nurses and the cost of living is extremely high!

I'm from there actually :) I know the situation is tough to get a job d/t saturation but actually cost of living is cheaper compared to the Seattle metro area so i really want to get back over there somehow.

All I know is when my grandfather was a patient there, the average age of nurses was probably double the average age of nurses at any other Boston hospital (where it is pretty low).

Retention is pretty decent in the Boston VA system. I would recommend contacting your local nurse recruiter and having that person get in touch with the Boston recruiter (who is located in Brockton MA). A lot of times they have relationships with each other and will pass along internal listings. Good luck!
