Boston College Masters Entry 2015

Published

Hi all,

I couldn't find the thread to this, and since the deadline had passed, I'm wondering if anyone else here applied for the program!

I need to complete pathophysiology (online) before the start of the school. Can anyone recommend a cheap school to take it at? :)

In for psych, anyone else?

Does anyone still need to take pathophysiology?

I got accepted for FNP. BC is not my first choice, but it's nice to be accepted anyway. If I choose BC, I'll take patho with U New England, online. They have a flexible start date.

@snailszy, are you taking the NURS 36 pathophysiology course? i also need to take patho, but i was planning to wait until i hear from bc before enrolling.. i'm getting worried about timing though. do you get full refund back if you drop the course??

Sorry for the late response! All my allnurses emails never came through! :(

I don't think you get full refund if you drop the course. I recommend calling Yuba. They are really great with answering questions right away.

I received an email today saying I'm on the "second acceptance list" possibly for FNP, which I think is BC's form of waiting list haha. Ahhh!

Snailzy, I can't PM but I saw your message! I have a 3.5 but closer to a 3.8 in prerecs and a lot of internship/volunteer experience. Good luck, I hope you get in!

In for Psych! Still need to take patho

Random question: Should I be concerned that they do not offer a BSN? It is kind of unconventional, so I don't want it to affect me upon graduation and in the work field.

There are lots and lots of conversations about that question on allnurses. I recommend doing a search and reading up. My take on what I've read is that if you have a MSN, it's not a big deal. It might be a challenge finding a job as an RN w/o a BSN while you are still in graduate school, but certainly not impossible.

Oh, great thank you @BlackSkimmer! That was kind of my guess on the topic as well, but wanted to get a concrete answer.

I was offered a spot for the WHNP track--anyone else? I live and work in Boston already, so if anyone has their hearts set on BC, I'm happy to offer some insight on housing, recreation, and Boston culture!

When to start looking for an apartment? I feel like I heard somewhere that I should start in May for a Sept 1 move-in. Is it that nuts?
