Boston College Masters Entry 2015

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Hi all,

I couldn't find the thread to this, and since the deadline had passed, I'm wondering if anyone else here applied for the program!

I need to complete pathophysiology (online) before the start of the school. Can anyone recommend a cheap school to take it at? :)

Hi All!

So I was able to go to the accepted students day and it ultimately swayed me towards BC. I had a deposit down at Vanderbilt and visited the two back to back weekends to have them both fresh. Although I was nervous about the two year program and not enough clinical experience, this was addressed by students who are about to finish the program and basically they said they have had wonderful clinical preceptors and experiences and that you can request where you'd like to go or preferences and because the program is so small, the placement office is able to really work with each student and assign the best clinical spots for them. The students said that although the course load is intense, it is definitely doable and they have services to help such as matching you with a buddy who is in their second year and other tutoring options and many of them felt prepared to be an entry level provider upon graduation, which is what we will be. They also have a 100% NCLEX pass rate which is great! They addressed a lot of other things in the accepted students day but I can't remember it all, if anyone has any specific questions about the day feel free to ask!

I also agree we should start a facebook group!

Hey Everyone,

I decided to go ahead and create a Facebook group for those of you who are going to BC's Master's Entry program in the fall. I just put it up, and you should be able to find it by searching Boston College Master's Entry MSN - Class of 2017 or

facebook.com/groups/BCMSE17/

Let me know if you want to be an admin!

Looking forward to meeting you all.

Hi,

I know it's been awhile since you posted this, but I saw that you took some pre-reqs online through Johns Hopkins. I am thinking of taking my pre- reqs through them, I am wondering if you feel like they prepared you well enough for the program? I am a little unsure about taking A&P with the online labs... I am also wondering how demanding they are. I am working full time and trying to figure out if I can manage taking two at a time. Any info/advice you have would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hey Rebecca5,

I am in the program now and I took an online A&P class prior to entering. I thought it was sufficient enough. I am not sure what your background is but mine was in biology, so you should take that into consideration as well. My online course was a summer course (not through Hopkins), so it was fast paced and very demanding, but also very manageable. I would imagine that a regular semester course will be a little slower. Hopefully that helped. Good luck with your search.

How do you all find the program? Pretty intense with no social life ?

I actually found an online patho course at butler community college in Kansas, which was half the price of the one at UNE. If anyone else is interested, it starts on 3/23 and ends 5/15.

Did y'all end up taking the patho class at butler?
