I am starting a new assignment soon at Beth Israel Deaconess in Boston.
I have never been in Massachusetts.
Any tips, pointers, or clues that you have for the Southern Belle in Boston?

I'm originally form the area. I'd love to work at BI/D someday myself. Wicked busy, state of the art teaching hospitals.
If you like culture and things to do, you will never be board. They only problem is housing and rentals. Very expensive. Lots of commuting options, try hooking up with others to share a place. Good luck! what else do you want to know?

Boston is a great city. Some people love it, some hate it. Depending on where in the south you're from, it would probably be completely different from what you're used to. The cost of living is really high but the pay for RN is appropriate for the cost of living. If you live in the city, you won't need a car. If you live outside the city you will.
The weather is tempermental, the traffic is just mental :)
The city has a lot of charm and there's always things going on. The culture and nightlife are great. If you're single, you'll also love it.
When are you coming up?
As I am a traveler, my housing is taken care of. And I am to be in the city so I am leaving my car behind. I have worked at teaching hospitals in Manhattan and Philly, so I am used to them.
I will be up at the beginning of June. And hope to stay 6 monthes or more.
How is the mass transit system?
Thanks for any information.

Hi Carolina-
Out mass transit system is called the MBTA. It consists of subways, buses, commuter rails and water shuttles.
A pro about our system is that it is possible to get to many outlying suburbs with the commuter rail line.
A con would be that the system closes at approximately 12:50am each night.
If you need specifics on routes, pass prices, etc the website is
http://www.mbta.com/
Good luck and I hope you enjoy our city!

welcome, Carolina...how are you liking Boston??
It is quite nice, Thank You.
My stay has been extended to 6 monthes. I would love to see snow before I leave.
I have been on several trolley tours, the Charles River Tour, the Boston Harbor tour and out Whale watching on the fourth of July. As well as I walked to the Esplanade to see the Boston Pops and the fireworks.
And how are you doing?
