Bne Review Board--eligibility Issue

I Have Applied For Tx License By Endorsement, And Have Run Into A Snag. I Had Checked "yes" To The Eligibility Question Regarding History Of Arrests--i Was Arrested For Dui Back In 1978. Even Though My Fbi Background Check Was Negative, This "yes" Answer Has Cost Me $150.00 And A 3-6 Month Review Process! I Have Already Moved To Texas, Not Having Anticipated This Problem, Especially Since Last Year I Had No Problem Getting My Ca License Endorsed In Ok. Has Anyone Had Such An Experience? Does It Really Take 3-6 Months? Is There Any Way To Expedite This? Thanks In Advance For Your Input.

To find out more info on the Texas board, google it. I always find it that way. When I graduated school there was someone who had a mary jane charge. It took her 6 months before she was able to sit for boards. :( Good Luck:jester:

Oh...yes..believe me I do know from personal experience on that one. I had to answer yes to the question that asks if your license has ever been reprimanded, etc. Just like you I had to go through the so called $150 "eligibility review". Only in my case it took me almost 2 years to get my LVN license here in Texas and I STILL haven't found a job. I am kinda under the impression that when an employer finds out that your license has been reprimanded, etc. then they don't consider you worth the risk of hiring. The funny thing about the whole deal is that the state that reprimanded my license (Arkansas) says that all I have to do is to pay my renewal fee if I were ever to move back there.

So is this not all checked when you have your criminal background checked for nursing school? If your criminal background check comes back clear, is there reason to worry if you had a bad check when you were 19 and the charges were dropped because you took a check writing class? I don't start nursing school until January, but I am wondering if I should go ahead and file the declaratory order since I was arrested but the charges were dropped and my record is "clear".

That type of thing really falls under legal advice, which is outside the scope of our site and not in line with our Terms of Service. Best to communicate with the board (or legal counsel) on issues like this.

Just wondering if you ever resolved your issue? I am suffering the exact same thing and now stranded in Texas. How long did it take the board to resolve your issue?
