Hello fellow BMCC nursing applicants,
Anyone applying for Fall 2011? They now require the HESI A2 (I believe the Spring '11 hopefuls didn't need HESI). Does anyone know what the percentages will be for prereq GPA/ overall GPA/ HESI score in determining the rankings?
I'm pretty worried now because I was hoping to boost up my overall GPA from 3.7 to above 3.8 this semester. But finals just passed, and I calculated my grades; I think my GPA is dropping to a ~3.63 because I might receive a C in my Microbio class. I'm considering emailing my professor and requesting some kind of administrative withdrawal instead of getting the C. If somehow I'm allowed the withdrawal, my GPA will become ~3.84. My prereq GPA is ~3.86 (2As, 2A-s).
BMCC is notorious for rejecting 3.8s, let alone 3.7s and lower. Should I rely on acing the HESI or should I contact my professor and hope I get the withdrawal? Or is there a possibility that a 3.7 this sem could get accepted?
Hi Stole,
I did not mean to upset you.I did not know you tried four other schools before. I don't know what schools you tried before but I must admit that CUNY schools in general are very competitive because their tuitions are less than other private schools. Best of Luck to whatever you choose to do .
Hi All,
Now getting caught up ... was very Busy studing for HESI, took exam on Dec 9th @ 1PM, I passed. My class average I think was a 74.
First of all Stole I am very sorry that you already head you did not make it in, I saw that you did apply at other schools. If you are considering give up Nursing....have you ever considered Respiratory Therapy, a friend of mine who also attend BMCC told em is she do not make it in, she is switching over to RT and she spoke to Mr S. already most of the pre-req are the same & it is less competitive that Nursing.
So from all the other info I do know...I heard that the HESI balances that GPA, where in the past the GPA needed to be super high to have a chance, now the GPA is not all the focus and if you have a passing HESI grade you will be considered.
As for the Critical Think, even though it is not factored into the overall HESI grade...I found out they do look at it seperately & take into consideration.
I am so nervous and impatient waiting for to see if I make it in.
Good Luck to Everyone :)
:mad:I cannot understand this people I just call 1199 again and they said that not decisions have been made as yet. Whoever call me was a mistake. Should I tell them a piece of my mind?? People driving me nuts!!!!
Its so horrible... that someone will call you & tell you that, when no decisions have not been made yet.
So upsetting , I can only imagine how you feel, but on the bright side...you do not have to give up...still hang in there :)
studnur,
Yea I know like I said I called 1199 and they nothing is been said as yet, whoever called was a mistake. So lets wait and see. I know from the counselor that critical thinking is going to be taking in consideration by alot. I was with him yesterday to finish papers from 1199 and that's what he said lets just wait and see. I also saw they dates and seats available for the nure112 and is 25 for day and 25 for the evening!!! so the space is very limited so lets see
